watch Secret Santa 2011

Hahaha. You guys have done a great job this year! I think the videos are even better than last years. Turns out i couldve participated this year again but i didnt know that earlier and didnt want to make any promises i may not have been able to keep.

Anyway, great job everyone! Looking forward to watching the rest of them later.

@thevision,
ah.. I doubt my career as an "independent filmmaker" is in threat from dissing John M. Heck, I even say in my song "I dont know why..."

Dollars to donuts, I bet that Mr. M would ENJOY my vid, in fact, feel free to post in on a web site for him to see. :)

FYI: I purposely use lots of colloquialisms to keep you confused, and other grammatical tricks besides.

And to be clear, I HATE JOHN MALCOVICH, I DON'T KNOW WHY I JUST DO. Perhaps if I get to know him my opinion will change, but for now, he is the single object of my disaffection. He is all that is wrong in the world embodied in an ugly bald guy. I'm ugly and fat, but at least I got my hair... TAKE THAT JOHN MALCOVICH! BALDY! CHROME DOME, HAIRLESS WONDER nener nener nener!!! (John, Im crying out here, call me, Im walking again!) ;)

I liked your camera angles and everything. Your career as a film maker I think - well I think you will go great. I like the way you write, you incorporate eccentric words in the way you write, It's different I like it. You obviously love the art of writing.

I think you will go along way.

cheers

ok, in case someone got left out.. here is something more..

DL!! Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!!!!!

Have you just earned the mantle of Most Daring I.T. Filmmaker?

Wheat, wow, that's awesome. Love that cat too; great effect.

MH, that's great. Loved the accent. Know whose voice it reminds me of?

Ray, wow!

Dlevenchuk. Raped for saying "hello?" Oh my gosh, tough neighborhood. Fun film.

Pete, awww, the out of focus lights and music are actually quite nice.

What a fun project.

That cat made me lol wheat.

Mine is going to be more of a New Year present but it is in the works! My main question is does anyone knows the best (preferably free) way that I can download YouTube videos in a format that is compatible with FCP?

Much obliged y'all :)

Dready!!!

LAUGH

MY

ASTERISK

OFF!

Perfect!
Beautiful!
I grinned like a fool for the last four or five times I've watched it.

Nice transitions for both audio & video.
Great timing, too.
Looks like you got some new software toys to play with since the Halloween thingie. Cooo-ell!!!
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Niiiice.
BENNY HILL music. Very very nice. That stuff warped me as a mid-teen, BTW.
I'd like to know just a smidge about the 2x speed shot from 1:14 to 1:28.
Did you shoot the intro slow left-slide, as well?
Ah! I see you're a righty, eh?! Most Bud drinkers are. ;)
Please, by all means - tell me/us "did you laugh a lot after that shot"?

Merry Christmas hugs & self gratification.

As your own present states - people won't remember timeliness anywhere near as much as quality, so take your time.

Just waiting on the boss, Paper, & Comikazee.

I wasn't sure whether to click the elf because, with you, you never know where it might take you!
And you have good cause to hesitate.
Glad you liked it.
Yessir.
I dumped... perhaps an unreasonable amount of hours into it.
Learned a little, too.
That's what I like about these things. New problems. New solutions. New workarounds.

I like to do homework & research. What can I say. :D

"Clusterfunding". Nice, eh?! :)

Wheat -
Yeah, you gotta shoo the little kids outta the room. I thinnnk it's PG-13, pushing R. I tried to bleep out most of the offensive language. :P
And after seeing FP's Butterflies vid link (Thanks, FP!) I see how wonderful of a job you did.
I don't have an iPhone, so I searched and searched for some other way to songify something, but never really found anything remotely useful other than simply slowing the audio down by half then doubling that which distorts the reverb effect only a little. I'm not at all satisfied with it.
Did you iPhone yours or have another solution? Gracias!
BTW, the snow sequence rocked!

Dima -
The tongue-in-cheek humor was spot on uncomfortably funny.
Very nice performance & editing.

Pete & CF -
You guys have inspired my next year's Secret Santa gift!
Muah-ha-ha-haaaaa!!!!!
(No! No! No! Truuuuuust me. You have no Idea what I'm gonna debaucherize! LMAO! True Evillll is afoot!)

Rockin Robert -
For my Dr Shipman voice I used xtranormal's English male voice #2 (I think) because, like Mad Hatter, I'm not impressed with my impersonations of accents from across the pond.
Synthetic seems less disrespectful than a bogus attempt.
A vocal version of pushing rope in the sack.

It's a poor man's resource. Good find when in need.

Ernest & Knightly -
You guys getting in the ho-ho-hot tub next year, right?

Thanks Ray! Glad you got got a kick out of it.

The time-lapse shot is something I took off of youtube (I don't really worry about copyright when it's friendly stuff like this, lol)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l31oseW-LiU
The intro shot is something I shot last year and had sitting on the computer. Score one for recycling!

And yes, I am totally not right in the head.

btw, Ray, your present for Nick was freakin' amazing. I can't imagine how much thought and effort went into making that. Kudos.

That cat made me lol wheat.

I use Replay Media Catcher. The nice thing is that it'll convert the downloaded file to whatever format you choose. Very helpful since flv is a serious bitch to convert. Can be glitchy sometimes but with some finagling you'll be able to make it work. It's not free but there is a free trial (though I can't remember if they do a watermark or if it's just a certain amount of time...)

I decided the best thing for me to do was make an xtranormal cartoon video for you guys for christmas. Here it is.

Merry Christmas Indietalk.

Ok that was really funny.

Boom! There we go!

Kamikazee, and everyone on IndieTalk.com - merry christmas and happy new year!

Dude! Awesome. That cigarette bait and shank was awesome. And you've confirmed everything I thought to be true about Mother Russia. When I was living in Poland my host parents were trying to tell me that I should visit Russia. My response was 'No thanks, I like being alive.' They didn't argue...

Oh and I totally remember seeing that cartoon at the end while I was over there. The lecherous chain-smoking version of Tom and Jerry. Love it!!!!

Here it is, in all of its lameness. Merry Christmas, Wheatgrinder, and I'm sorry!

BTW, I did notice the similarity in your video. Super awesome job!

Damn! You beat us all to it. Nice timing. Made me laugh out loud.

Merry Christmas, Paper Twin Productions!

I'm sorry this isn't better, but forces were working against me. First, I haven't been able to come up with a decent story in months and it's pissing me off. So I decided I'd make a little postcard tour down Detroit's fabled 8 Mile Road at night, so you could see the twinkling lights. But then I learned that Detroit hasn't been able to afford to maintain the streetlights in the city for years, so there wasn't enough light. So I decided I'd take a drive down in the daytime during a snowfall, but alas...we haven't had any snow. So I drove down during the day and it looks like any random day.

Anyway, the music is Motown good...the sentiment is real...and really, look closely and you can see it is true you can get ANYTHING on 8 Mile. Strip clubs next to roller rinks, hubcap shops next to vacant lots, store fixtures next to used mattress stores, storefront religion next to bars, hourly rate motels next to police stations. I bet you Santa gets most of his presents on 8 Mile.

Merry Christmas, Indietalk!

Ah, such is life. At least it looks like your Lions will get the wild card since all of the Bears seem to be hospitalized...

You know, it's kind of amazing how much Detroit looks like parts of Chicago. Great choice of music

perhaps... it was a crazy busy (job searching still) season that I didn't feel I should spend the time producing something... sorry.
