After damn close to three years, my first "real" film project is ready to shoot. It's called zero budget. a movie about two dudes making a movie. (periods and lack of capitalization intentional). I first had the idea somewhere around May 2010, when I figured that since I had no budget with which to make a movie, I might as well make a no-budget movie about making a no-budget movie. So I wrote a twelve-page summary and tried to improvise around it.
Needless to say, that didn't go too well.
After realizing how stupid I was, I decided it might be a good idea to sit down and, you know, write a script. So last summer, I did, and the result is a 45-page screenplay that I could not be happier with. Then I was stupid enough to ask for six grand on Kickstarter (shockingly, that didn't work either). I finally saved up enough cash for a T3i and Zoom H1, and now we are all set to go.
Currently, I am in the process of sorting out scheduling (it's just me and a bunch of my high-school friends, so there isn't too much to worry about since we're all on vacation), but hopefully I'll be able to start shooting within a week or so.
The movie is, as the subtitle suggests, about two dudes making a movie. Mike and Will want desperately to go to Dubstepapalooza (only the hottest party of the summer, duh), and need a way to make a quick buck. Mike thinks he should not only be able to make said buck, but also win over the girl of his dreams by making a blockbuster sci-fi flick on no budget, and basically, things go wrong. My sense of humor is simultaneously inspired by subtleties in the vein of Arrested Development and absurdist slapstick along the lines of Police Squad!, so there's a mix of wordplay and farce, along with plenty of in-jokes referencing various b-movies.
Once shooting starts I'll update, well, hopefully on a daily basis with photos and stories from the set. Until then, here's the teaser logo...
And the four-second teaser trailer that reveals absolutely nothing of the plot and includes no actual footage:

And finally, more-freqent updates and pictures will be available on our Facebook page.
