What's so great about the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy?

The movies might be a quadrilogy now from the looks of it, compared to the books. But my friends love these two movies so far, and think they are great.

But I don't get the big deal really. I think that the couple, has way too many compatibility differences, to the point where you think they wouldn't even be that interested in each other, and just both go off and find better suited partners.

And the movies try to advertise themselves as these big budget soft-core porn movies, but the actual eroticism elements in them, as well as the sexual content, is not even that good, cause the movies are afraid of getting an NC-17 rating perhaps? Not sure if they would since the MPAA still wants to bring in business, but the movies are not really pushing the envelop either, as well as having a couple you cannot root or support getting together.

Some movie critics who dislike it, have pointed out who Anastasia Steel is such a weak character, for taking all of Christian Grey's crap that he feeds her. And all of my friends who love this movie (which is quite a few), are all the women in my circle of friends. The guys actually were not impressed by the movie at all, like I wasn't.

And since the book was written by a woman who said she wrote a Twilight fan-fiction, that is also about a weak female character, who critics have pointed out, I am wondering, are do women prefer weak female characters in fiction compared to men?

It seems that female authors have no problem writing about them as protagonists, and a lot more women seem to like the movies compared to men. But I am only going by the stats where I live, from the people I know.

What do you think?

There are greater ponders to ponder than this pondering.

What's next?
Trying to ask us why 'In the woods...' Omnio* record is a masterpiece?
If you don't like something you don't have to try to figue out why others do, unless you really have to much time on your hands.
Which you don't have, since you have a documentary to make and to star in.

*) Which is IMO very true.

Can we also talk about Justin Bieber?

Can we also talk about Justin Bieber?

Gladly. I'm a Belieber!

*sits back and allows everyone else in the room to question whether or not I'm joking.

As for the original question asked, I believe I know the answer. In my "day-job" I work in restaurants. You wouldn't believe how many people think they're being "naughty" when they order the fries. I'm pretty sure these people are vanilla in the bedroom, and absolutely none of them are feminists. These are the people who watch 50 Shades of Poop.

Women: "I'm a feminist"
Men: "All genders matter"

But seriously this movie started out as fan-fiction for twilight.
Maybe you don't like the movie because you're not a teenage girl.

Also they're all obsessed with billionaires in this kind of erotic fiction.
It's always some billionaire in there. It's very standard and cookie-cutter.

Well for one thing I feel like Christian Grey's wealth, doesn't really play into the story at all. He could just be an average blue collar worker, who is into BDSM and the story could still have the same function, it seems.

You didn't get the memo?

Uhh, I mean the meme...

Get the hell off of the Forums and get to work on your homework and your personal projects.

You are so afraid of "failing" you have completely failed to produce any product at all.

A friend of mine finished his novel last year. As David said to me - "It may be a crappy novel, but at least it's a finished crappy novel." (It will never be a best-seller, but it ain't too bad……..)

Ugh that does it. I am opening up my editor and doing the credit sequence.

I am going to finish something THIS WEEKEND

There, it's all done!!!
I finished something.

See h44 it wasn't so hard, in just 22 short months I completed a 2 minute video

I've got 3 others I need to wrap and one more i want to start.

I seen the first one, it was okay could have been better. What runed it for me is that shot you see too much of in sex scenes, especially porn. (Shot of mans butt thrusting) Seriously. Who thinks that shot is a great idea? And Dakota Johnson is hot. So there's that for me. :)

The Tv edit is going to be hilarious. "I don't make love. I PLAY hard. I don't think they thought that over too well. that implies something I can't even begin to visualize.

I don't remember them showing a lot of sex to the point of butt thrusting. Is there an "unrated" or extended cut out there, compared to the theatrical?
