Two fantastic bits of news and press from Scorpio Film Releasing

Hey all. I'm elated to bring you two bits of fantastic news: first, our previous feature, ATOMIC BRAIN INVASION is up for 'Best Independent Film' in the noted Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards, and also, our most recent feature THE DISCO EXORCIST has scored it's first review...and boy is it a raving doozie.

If you saw and enjoyed ABI, or just want to be a good IT citizen, please swing by the Rondo website and give us a vote...karma goes a long way, you know!

And of course, check out our glowing review of TDE on Twitch Film (this is a big deal, because Twitch is a huge site and our views spiked massively in only a few days): http://twitchfilm.com/reviews/2011/02/the-disco-exorcist-review.php

Thanks in advance for the interest. Cheers.

Both of these pictures will see a national release in the coming months. Stay tuned!

I checked out your vids yesterday and there's some quality work there. The cinematography is good too. Nice that some people are still making the effort to shoot film.

Do you have Asian subtitled versions of your work? I think it'd do pretty well out here.

Congrats!

Vote cast.

EDIT: Actually, I can't vote. The link isn't working (neither is the one on your FB). Let me know that it's fixed, and I'll vote.

Hey thanks. Ummm...the link was hijacked, strange. I've reset the link for the Rondo Awards.

The review on Twitch should be fine.

@ PositiveFuture. Disco wasn't shot on film...it was shot on HD and heavily post-worked. It was originally suppose to shoot on s8, but that was slow and expensive all over the place...plus the actors only got two takes at the most...wasn't too fun. So he went with his typical fare of HD.

It looks like Boogie Nights meets From Dusk til Dawn. I'm nowhere near an expert, but I can normally tell when someone's shot in digital and then stuck a cheap filter on it. Plenty of that on Youtube. You might not fool the real experts but you got me.

Can other, more experienced people tell that you shot on HD and then post-worked it?

I thought the 'dust' on the film looked a bit over the top, but I just figured you had a messy lab technician.

It fools a lot of people actually. And the individual who did the post work didn't overdo it I think...you'll even find jump cuts in the film, to play up the bad splicing or missing frames. It's a pretty good job I'd say. It could have looked even better, but we didn't have the budget for a professional fx guy who specializes in this kind of thing.
