Alright, several of you saw the set photos for this movie, and watched along with the construction process, well here it is.

Quality is decent, took a 4GB .mov down to a 493 MB MP4 for vimeo, turned out OK.

I'll never act in my own movie again. My performance is actually pretty good if I do say so myself, but I had to trust the DP and 1st AD more than I am comfortable with, and they didn't always come through on the level I feel I could have myself.

Password protected because even though many festivals don't care, a few do, and not ready for it to be freely available on the web yet.

I was a bit distracted by the glare of some white objects (book pages, milk, some other stuff on the table when the woman is eating soup). I don't know if it was intentional. If it wasn't, it seems to me that it could have been corrected during post-processing by looking for pixels with the highest values/intensities and assigning them lower ones.

"The island" reminded me of Luc Besson's first movie, "Le dernier combat". He had little money back then. He had to resort to a lot of DIY. But it's actually better than many expensive movies he made later.

This film was not my DP's greatest moment. He was getting married one week after we wrapped. I agree on the hot spots in a few shots. I was up against a deadline for some festivals, and didn't want to take the time/expense to get it fixed in post.

I learned a lot from this project. It was a big improvement over my first film for sure. I'm hoping to take what I learned forward into the film I shoot the end of this month. That's me in the lead role. I'll never do that again. The amount of focus I had to put on acting led to me not catching the technical flaws that bother me to this day.
 
Thanks Paul. It did pretty well for me, got in about a dozen festivals (Playing at the Pittsburgh Horror Festival this weekend), won a couple of awards at smaller fests. It's flawed for sure, but trying to only make new mistakes, not repeat old ones.
 
I love this movie.

You keep mentioning the flaws, and if you're ever inclined to share them with me I might learn something.

Because it really inspired me and my work last year. Thanks for the freebie.

It drags a little in the first third I think. I mean how do you communicate boredom and isolation other than showing boredom and isolation, but I still think I could have trimmed about 1 minute out of the first 7 or 8 minutes with a little tighter edit.

Everything else is really technical issues. There are lights that are a bit too hot, I was never totally happy with the off camera sound effects (budget and time came into play there for sure), some of the ADR is a little dicey in moments, there are shots I wish we had framed a little differently, etc...

I appreciate the VERY kind words for sure. I'm shooting "109" which I posted an early draft of as "The Tip" in the screenwriting forum a while back the end of this month, so hopefully it's even better.
