archived-videos The Basement - Indie Film Trailer

Trailer gets pretty muddy from 40 secs on.

Looks kinda interesting. A bit of The Langoliers & a bit of Left Behind type of thing?

You sure do love your yellows.

Good luck with the campaign. :)

thx for the feedback man...appreciate it...and yea the yellows are loud...just trying out color looks for the film...give it that contagion feel nah mean...nah jk lol but yea

Looks cool but the trailer didn't do enough to make me want to go out of my way to find the film. There isn't anything new that made me think, "hey that was a fresh take on it".

I may not be the best person to give you feedback, considereing the fact that I'm not a religious person but as a movie you have to bring something new to the table.

The first thing I thought of wile watching the trailer was "Left Behind" -- I read the whole series btw -- and my second thought was, "Well, what's different?" That's the question you need to answer on your trailer. What will the viewer learn from watching this movie that he/she hasn't seen before?

I liked the whole fighting/guns/arguing part of it and it that could work really well as the "new aspect" of a rapture movie.

You don't have to answer this but, how does the movie end? What happens throughout the film?

You are right Joey about that...People will get struck with a Left behind vibe and ask themselves why should I see a remake of something that I already seen already...The difference is this movie is more about the characters then the disaster happening...you will see glimpses of it through out but its more about these so called christians denying it is the rapture due to them still being here...And the black guy who got jacked up is the antagonist who tells everybody it is the rapture and I know why im here but why are yall still here...He basically knows the bible in and out but chooses not to accept it and helps everybody reflect on there lives by exposing everybodies sin...

We just gotta get that across more visually with the trailer...lol

I'm not sure you have to bring something new to every film but you have to bring something! At the moment your trailer appears to be just that, your trailer. It's a trailer which seems to me to be saying; "watch me, I 've been made by an aspiring filmmaker", in my opinion it should be trying to shout; "watch me, I'm going to involve you in a dramatic, stimulating story"!

BTW, a loud dramatic repeating sound effect only works if you back it up with loud dramatic action. For example, a loud dramatic sound effect punctuating a cut to several people sitting in a closet looking bored, just says to me "desperate filmmaking attempt to make a boring film appear interesting".

Don't mean to be harsh with my criticism but maybe a rethink on what you want your audience to feel might help?

If you have basically the same plot as all of those movies, then that's a major problem. Considering, those movies are hardly different from each other. And APE is wrong, you NEED to bring something new to this story.

And the more like Left Behind it is, the worse, because those movies were just plain awful. I thought that even back when I was a Christian and believed it was real

I thought the same thing for real...I was like it should be more action sequences flashing then this but we only filmed a few of them so far so it was kinda hard...but yea I see what your saying man...thx for the feed

and i watched the Left Behind trailer the other day and was like wow that trailer sucked...yet back then I was so excited still to see that movie...like a blind eye was turned to how horrible it was due to it being christian based about the rapture...

Yep, one of the most difficult skills in making a trailer or indeed the film itself, is objectivity. The ability to stand back and view what you are making from the point of view of the audience, IE., someone who knows little to nothing about film making and nothing about your specific story. This "someone" wants to be entertained, excited, stimulated, surprised and involved in your story. The difficulty is that filmmakers often get attached to certain footage depending on how difficult it was to obtain and how much filmmaking skill it demonstrates but the audience don't really care about any of this, they only care about what the film makes them think and feel and therefore it's entertainment value.

For example, you have the cards "What if ...", "A third of the world's population" and then "Suddenly" but think from the audience point of view, "suddenly" what? Suddenly, the slow paced music continues just as before? Suddenly, a man gets into his empty car and looks at his armrest? You know the story you are trying to tell but from the audience's point of view: Suddenly! ... nothing unusual happens at all.

I got you on that man...and it wasnt the arm rest, the seat belt was still buckled so by you saying that I understand the point you saying...It has to be more clear what your trying to imply and dont think the audience knows as much as you...Gotcha man, appreciate the feedback man...
