The Backlight

The backlight is a problem area for me.
I can't seem to place this thing effectively without it getting in my shots as I move the camera around.

Do you guys mount it to the ceiling somehow?
What are some tips or tricks for an effective backlight?

not sure if this is what you mean, but I used a hair light mounted on top of a wardrobe once, which made it possible for the camera to move around the scene because the "stand" was a prop on the set anyway

Yeah that is the sort of thing I'm talking about.
This whole 3-point lighting thing, hopefully I didn't use the wrong terminology in my thread title

I don't know that there are any tricks. Rehearse your camera move
and find a place that is not in the shot to place your backlight. If there
is a wardrobe you put it there. If you need to attach it to a wall do what
you can. If you need to hang it from the ceiling you need to figure out
how. I suspect each situation will be different.
