Tattoos and Earrings

Can anyone tell me a good way of doing tattoos. I have a number of characters in the film which have all kinds of different tattoos.

Also I have a character who is suppose to have three earrings in one ear but the actor has no percing.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

I suppose you can find some good temp tattoos. Not sure how big of ones you need. OR...you could cast someone like me who has half sleeves!

Good luck on that and it's good to see some roles that us " tattooed folks " can get hehe.

Try henna/mehndi for the tattoos.

It's almost as good as the real thing... except it is not permanent. (2 weeks to 2 months) The inks are very durable, though, and will survive a long while. (And you'll also have a lot of good luck, apparently ;) )

For the non-piereced ears... you can cheaply buy at many jewelry stores a tiny attachment that converts a pole-earring to a clip-on.

There are set of fake tattooing pens you can buy in art shops, which allow you to just draw straight onto the skin.

However, if you've got a very willing cast, a good budget and you talk to the right people in the tattoo buiness, it is possible to get a proper tattoo that only has a life of about three to four months.
The work would need to be done at least two weeks before production to allow it to heal properly.
The needle only goes into the top layer of skin and therefore doesn't become permanent. They cost the same as a regular tattoos and it's a case of finding a tattooist who specialises in this work.

The easiest way, however ,is to use temporary tattoos, as said earlier. If you do, remember to get multiple (lots) copies of the same piece of flash (tattoo design), they really do come apart very quickly under film conditions.

Also check out temporary tattoos that are airbrushed on. They are full color, and can last 7 days. They usually work from stencils, so you will be guaranteed the same design if something happens to the first.

Bumping the thread with a recent warning from the FDA, concering adverse side-effects of "makup" tattoo inks made by Premier Pigments.

Symptoms include:

They include blistering, swelling, cracking and peeling skin around lips and eyes that, in some cases, caused serious disfigurement and difficulty in eating and talking
