Tape Help!!!

Guys! I need some help!! I use Sony HDR-HC9 camcorder for my video production assignment. I recorded in Mini DV tape, and I just found out that my computer don't have firewire port! is there any other way to retrieve my video??? Please help!! Thanks in advance! >.<

Record it via a webcam pointed at the camera's LCD screen.

Some cameras have a USB 2.0 output as well as firewire.

If yours does not, your only option is to borrow someone's computer that does.

You can easily get a firewire adapter for your system for very little money (<$10). If it's a laptop you can get firewire PC cards or ExpressCards easily enough (example on ebay here). If you have a desktop you can get a PCI card with firewire support (example)

Another solution is the firewire to USB adapter cable (like this), but some editing software doesn't like this, and it's not such a good set up.

Tried it with USB, but it doesn't work. Use Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas, just cannot detect the device. I might have to search for firewire to USB cable or forewire port then.. thanks guys..

If you have a spare slot on your computer's motherboard, you can buy a FireWire card for very cheap.

Problem settled. I bought a 4pin to 4pin firewire cable and connect to my group mate's laptop which got 4pin firewire port. Thanks guys for comment
