Style or Substance?

I've heard about the big debate between style and substance, but I'm wondering which is more appreciated when applying for a job? What makes the biggest impact?

Well I think it would depend on your budget as well. If your budget is very low, you might want to concentrate on substance, since you may not be able to afford really goodlooking stylish actors, and you may not be able to afford scenic sets.
