STUCK

Hi,

I have decided on the body: Canon EOS T3i

Objective: Documentaries and short films.

Lens: Confused and need your help

18-55 or 50 1.8?

Due to my budget can buy only one.

From internet boards I gathered that some say:

Get 18-55 for the versatility and image stabilization.

And some say:

Get 50 1.8 for sharpness and speed.

Or you have some other suggestion within that budget.

Please guide me on this

Thanks and regards,

Riz

You have been given good advice: the 18-55 for versatility and image
stabilization- the 50 1.8 for sharpness and speed. Now the decision comes
down to you and your needs. You can only afford one - what do YOU need
most to start with?

For my personal shooting style I would buy the 50.

Well, it's not too big of an investment considering lenses. Make a choice, get it and start filming.

Even if you find out later that you would have rather had the other lens, im sure you can save up a 100 dollars in a relatively short time.
