Someone pointed this out to me and now i notice this a lot, but tons of short films have minimal dialogue. I really like it, and the ones with minimal dialogue always stand out the most to me. Is that some sort of screen writing technique or something? also how do you write a script with no dialogue? is it just descriptions and actions of the scene? thanks! also if you have a favorite short that has like no dialogue post it! i love watching them

I made a six minute short film with one line - five words. I wrote it
like I write all my screenplays. Luc Besson wrote (and directed) a
feature length film with only one word spoken. The script was written
just like any screenplay.

I wouldn't know how to write it, cuz I've never done it. But yeah, that's definitely a screenwriter technique that I think most screenwriters strive for.

Like CF said, show, dont tell. But dialogue has its well deserved and respected place, ofcourse.

I tried to tell a story without any diagetic sound, using musical cues, b&w, colour and so on.
And if get the Pixar shorts dvd, there are many on there without any dialogue. Wonderful stuff.
