Dang! My camera man gets over, we unpack, go through our shot plan, eat some eggs and bacon, and I ask him which pocket has the batteries...
He says the side pocket. I check them both... No batteries.
He revises: "Oh... they're by my phone on my desk at home..."

Crud. Ok- next weekend we're filming! Curse my luck! This is gonna be close...

Had actors & DP up in Riverside today, to get a feel for the place. We are filming in a really neat bar, smack dab in the middle of a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant (and the owner) are totally

Total brand-new script, as well. I couldn't works some kinks out of the previous one, so I tossed it and wrote a new one Saturday night.

We're all insane, I tell you... insane!

Our movie is done, I just need to render it. Total run time is 4:47. And...after viewing the finished product in black and white, we agreed that it was not right for our movie. So we are going color!

Filming in a few hours!!!
Go team!!!
4:00 we start the filming. Should be done by... 10PM... tomorrow I edit all day...
This'll be my first editing all by myself... I hope I don't get TOO drunk... (editing makes you drunk right?)

Questions for all:

Who is using sound equipment, and who is using camera audio?
Who is using an original score?

Oh, and does using a looping machine count as original score???

i just got home from central australia for 2 weeks and i've learnt one thing: 24 hours of express bus ride home stopping through 2 capital cities = detatched sense of reality. Oh and my camera keeps dying (e.g. buttons dont work, tape keeps popping out in the middle of a shot)..... i have strong doubts i will make this but i WILL :(

We use an external mic plugged into a camera to record audio. Audio is finessed with sound processing software before being added to video track (noise reduction, etc). We also have a library of sound effects that are added as needed.

Our movie features three orginal songs (that we also wrote and recorded). I guess that original songs would count as an original score, but that would be up to the judges to decide.

Evening report:

Ok. Filming is done. I had trouble capturing on USB, but finally got around to getting a low-res version of the footage on my PC. Premiere wouldn't capture because of some stupid reason (probably the crappy USB cable) so I had to capture in MOVIEMAKER. Ugh. Not good.
So here's the scoop. I'm editing a rough version to send to my editor and he'll edit it hopefully within the next two weeks.

Where is everyone else at?

-Logan-

Saturday we had our second actors rehearsal. This one has a cast of 4 and a half. (The half being me on a voiceover) It went really well. I'm very happy with all of them.

Sunday night, Flaviu (boardmember DirectorX) and I went out to the location to work on a shot-list and eat lots of Chinese food.

Wednesday night is zero-hour... we start filming at 9pm.

I'll post some stills from the shoot, after we are done.

Might seem rough with a deadline to beat, but don't sweat it. :)

Everyone in this is hobbled by the limitations of 'net-viewable presentations. Online films never have the perfect viewing conditions, especially with the filesize caps for this... I suspect that a strong story will carry more weight than the odd pixelation problems.

Finished my script today (finally). I'll have a rehearsal Wednesday, shoot this weekend, edit next week, and then ship it off to be scored :)

My short will be silent except for *maybe* a line or two in which case I will be doing ADR (depends on run time etc).
