Rendering Question

For rendering as a DVD, Vegas has a pretty good mpeg2 preset.

How long is your project? Choppiness could be due to trying to put too large a movie on a single DVD.

Keep in mind that playback choppiness on PC might not translate to choppy on DVD. Its not a trivial tasks to playback high quality video on a computer. DVD is not as high quality as your probably rendering.

Me, I have two approaches. For big projects that I finalize in AE, and that I want to do many things with, (DVD, Youtube, Itunes etc) Ill render out high quality as I can. That rendered movie usual doesn't play smoothly on my PC.

For a DVD I let the DVD authoring software (encore) transcode to the MPEG2 for the DVD. This seems to give me the best DVD's.

If im coming right out of Premiere with my video I want to get a DVD quickly, Ill render right to the MPEG2 DVD preset. Encore wont re-transcode it so I get my DVD much quicker.
