Once Were Warrios

I saw this the other day and it was seriously one of the hardest films to watch. Who's seen it? What did you think? Some of the violence is unrealistic, but it doesn't dampen the impact much.

And my half Maori boyfriend has now taken to coming up behind me and whispering "uncle Bully will be as gentle as a lamb" to me whenever I let my guard down.

-_-

Anyway. As I said, who's seen it and what did you think?

Yeah I saw it when it first came out too and it sure packed a punch. Sounds like it stands the test of time. Drinking longnecks like stubbies was one of many lasting impressions. Wouldn't want to spoil the story so I won't mention any others.

Yep, saw it long ago. Good movie. While some if it may be cultural, sadly much of the violence is similar to what you'd find in other places, including the USA.

I thought that movie was hilarious! I love all the slapstick.

Just kidding! Never seen it. Gonna have to check it out.

So, he's your boyfriend now? Ooh-la-la!

It sure is intense.

I knew of the sequel Steve, but I haven't seen it. Apparently it's not as good?

Yeah Joe, I'm letting him be my boyfriend. But you're still my long distance cyber man <3

I saw this in a theater, back around 1997. I wanted to jump into the screen and beat on the abusive father!

Didn't the boyfriend give the girl something called a "fukapappa?" It sounded like that's what he said.

Whakapapa means ancestry apparently. Boyfriend says that's what you're talking about. I wouldn't have a clue lol. He's so handy ^_^

I know what you mean though, I just wanted to scream at the girl "Don't just lie there, fucking yell out! Fight back!" and so on. I suppose that's one of the things that makes it hard to watch.

Holy cow, I just realized that the dad played Jango Fett in the STAR WARS movies! All the stormtroopers were cloned from him.
