That was basically what I wanted to know
leapinglizards, you have been bumping old threads - many over
two and three years old - that are about distribution. Here is the
pretty much the answer to all of your questions: It is always worth
submitting your finished film to a distributor. In todays market you
can almost count on not getting any money up front. Not always
true so submit your film and ask about what they offer. Click on
the link on the threads and look at what the distributor is selling.
Then contact them. They can answer all your questions.
It's important that you have a finished film. Distributors usually
don't want to play the "when I make my movie..." game so have
a finished product.
Do you have a finished film?
Aspiring Mogul, there are many distributors out there distributing
independent films. You do not need to go through the majors. Check
out the 2012 AFM Exhibitor List, pick up a copy of the Hollywood
Distribution Directory. These will not tell you where to find the money
to make a movie, but it will give you a better understanding of how
many distributors are out there. They are ALL looking for movies.
