Sean, I just saw Little Mermaid at the Egyptian theater a few days ago.
The two writer/directors were there to talk about it and their careers at
Disney. For me that's not a guilty pleasure - I genuinely adore that movie.
I was dating Sheri Stoner - the live action reference model for Ariel - when
they were making the movie.

My two are:
Showgirls - I mean I really like that terrible, stupid movie.
The Holiday - A true guilty pleasure. I shouldn't like this but I do...

Damn that's awesome! Sounds like a really great time.

I get trapped in ā€œFried Green Tomatoesā€ quite easily. If I’m channel surfing (is that even a thing anymore?) and happen upon it when it’s still in the opening credits, I’m stuck there until it’s over. Not that it’s a bad film - quite the contrary - but I’m outside the stereotypical ā€œchick flickā€ target market.

As for a terrible film that I find absolutely delightful, ā€œSaturday the 14thā€. I’ll be surprised if most people around here even know what that is.

Honorable mentions go to ā€œHookā€ and ā€œPrincess Brideā€, but I don’t think they truly qualify as they’re both genuinely fantastic films.

I remember "Saturday the 14th" - dreadful.

It's hard to define guilty pleasure. Look up lists on line and some list
some truly great movies like Ghostbusters , Road House and Princess
Bride. I sure don't feel guilty liking those movies.

I'm with you, Al; for me it's usually movies that are outside of my "wheelhouse"
like chick-flick or romantic comedy. There are many that I like but feel guilty
about liking them.
