The Channel Islands main page has you listed as a panel-discussion peep, too!

I wanna go see "Little Man Kicks Ass." :pop:

Wow! We didn't even see that page. Thanks Zensteve!

Note: "Little Guy Kicks Ass" is funny if you just happen to see it at a festival. But it's been hyped up to you way too much! So hopefully hype won't kill it. It's a 2minute $4 wann-be kung-fu film. Nuff said.

Thanks again for pointing out the page.

"The 7th annual Channel Islands Film Festival will be screening a total number of 6 films with Shane (Ryan's) name stamped on them. This is a record number of films screened by one filmmaker in the history of the Channel Islands Film Festival."

I'm sure you'll get in festivals, just remember to do your homework before you enter (not saying you don't).

We know people who've made films far better than we think our films are, and they never got in to a single festival because they only entered the top few then got discouraged.

You can pretty much forget Sundance, Telluride and all those. Even people we know who have established themselves and have fairly well known actors get rejected from the top fests.

From July to Oct. we've had/have scheduled about 15 screenings (in Hollywood, NYC, Seattle & more) and only spent $25 total on all the entry fees combined. If you're having trouble getting accepted, go for the low to no entry fee fests (the fests appropriate for your film) and you'll most likely start getting screenings.

I don't know, works for us cause right know we have ultra-low-budget slightly experimental films that are hard to find an audience. Your film might easily be worthy of much bigger fests, maybe try showing it to somebody you know who knows the festival circuit.

Even big time shorts like "Tom Hits His Head" at 100 festivals and counting has played at some of the same fests as us (we sat next to the director last year at Channel Iaslands) and director Tom Putnam is featured all over the place now, so small fests are good places to go. They still capture the independence really well, while Sundance just talks about J Lo and Ben going shopping and Brittany Spears kissing Colin Farrell. Did you ever hear about a f*cking film!

Hope this was a little bit of ok advice.

Why would you tell him that? His next film may be a Sundance winner. However, it is always best to be ready for rejection, and have a solid plan B, C, and D. :D

We don't mean forget it like they suck or aren't worth it, but the odds of getting in are so slim that many people we know have just been completely devestated if not accepted and the thing is, is that there are so many other festivals out there to consider.

Go ahead and enter your film in Sundance or Telluride (we did), but don't get your hopes up and don't quit if Sundance rejects you. Don't quit if they accept you either, you still got lots a work to do. It's just that everbody and their moms are filmmakers now n days and competition is unreal, so sometimes thinking outside the box and not setting your mind to just Sundance like everybody else, might get your film seen.

That's all we're trying to say. We've spent thousands of dollars more on rejection letters than on our films and if there's any kind of advice we got is there's "other stuff out there other than Sundance" (but to rephrase ourselves "don't forget Sundance either. That's arguably the place that got independent film festivals started)

Well, I'm a putz.

Couldn't find Human Resources building, so I ended up in the Library watching a submitted documentary about sea-lions near the Channel Islands. (Which was pretty cool, but nowhere near as cool as cheap kung-fu theater.)

I *almost* got to see "Little Man Kicks Ass"!

Dude,

that sucks! after all that, we feel so bad. If you send us your address to alteregocinema@yahoo.com we will send you a copy.

Even though we would be thrilled if anybody asked for a copy, unfortunetely we won't be able to send you one, we just don't have the time and money, but in Zensteve's case, he's probably spent more money on gas driving to see the movie, then we actually spent on making the movie, so we gotta get him a copy.

If anybody else is interested in the movie, it will be online at undergroundfilm.org within a month probably, and we will let you kow when it is.
