Marketing to TV

I have to agree with the script consultant on trying to sell I, Creator 2: Goddess Of The Hunt to say, the SyFy Chanel may be a hard sell because they may be close minded and just say it's a Battlestar Galactica look-alike. Hopefully, other networks, distributors, and investors at NATPE will see it differently.

Anyone have any suggesting on a marketing plan for the networks?

There's a band on Drive Thru Records that was signed because they showed up at the parking lot of their studio with a trailer/stage set up and a few hundred fans and played a set haha.

You never know, standing out front of Rockefeller center with a small projection screen just might be what it takes to get noticed.... or arrested.

You have to discover who is in charge, somebody who knows who is in charge, somebody who makes tea for that person, and get your material infront of him/her.

Or, alternatively, put your movie infront of audiences and generate enough of a "buzz" to decrease the risk factor and prove to them that your movie has an audience.

I would change the title so it doesn't seem like a sequel. I think there's very little chance of them picking up an untested sequel without broadcasting the original.

Just a thought, I know nothing about TV. SyFy channel does seem to broadcast a lot of low budget stuff though...

Okay,

Here's my 2 cents, as I think it over. A full moon as the background may misrepresent the genre as horrror. The rotating Earth is more traditional for outer space and science fiction.

Does my reasoning make sense?

Whoops! Wrong post! I meant this about the better background for the animated title.

Well, there's always, "Goddess Of The Hunt" as the alternate title, which the cast has been using.

Does the story make sense stand-alone? It seems to me to sell it to a network you absolutely have to drop I, Creator 2 and just go with Goddess of the Hunt on all of your marketing materials.

Yes, we reshot stuff from the first movie and it will look a lot better than the way it was shot in the first feature thanks to having a journeyman DP and sound guy. No rookies this time.

Even when the police asked me for my shooting permits, I could take a break and let the DP take over, since he has directed before. When I got back, he'd show me what he shot on the camera's playback. We have a great arrangement. He asked me to show him and the cast the blocking and work with the cast, and he would figure out the best angle and find the best lighting for the shot.

We had to filter out uncommitted actors from actors who have no problem working in no pay productions because acting is their life. These actors constantly asked me how is their acting, how is their makeup, and how do they look in their costume. They come up to me for approval for everything and thanked me for lunch and being in the production. They want to do whatever it takes to get the scene just right. BIG improvement. One actress said she will help me find reliable actors for future productions.

I'm seriously considering going SAG in the future and getting the reliable actors from this production to work with them. SAG will be on their case for no shows and running hours late. Union members have to "show a willingness to work" to stay in the union.

One of my actresses had it out with another actress trying to dictate her own hours, kept getting lost coming to shooting locations, and disrupting the shoot by constantly calling me when I told her on the phone "we're shooting something, let's speak after the shoot." The actress accused the other of not being a team player so everyone can get their camera time. We downsized the role of the troublemaker and asked her not to come back.

A band did that out here late last year - October or November, I think. Stopped traffic on the 101, played their song...

They received felony charges and, although I didn't hear what the final outcome was, faced up to 3 years in prison. And I heard the song wasn't that good.
