Awesome! Thanks.

Cavite, Panasonic DVX100

The Neistat Brothers, various consumer point and shoot pocket cameras

I just remembered Park Chan-wook's "Paranmqanjang" shot on the iPhone.

WOw that looks interesting, see the lens they had for it?

Anyway, thanks guys!

And another one just for my records:

Boxing day - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970922/ - Although I'm not quite sure which camera was used for this, it looks really cheap and with autofocus

Monster was done with 800,000?Impressive, just watched the trailer and if I didn't know better I would say that it cost way more than that.

A couple more to add:

Rubber - shot with a 5D - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1612774/

The Silent House (original) - Shot with a 5D - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1646973/

Parts of Black Swan shot with a 7D (maybe 5D too) - all subway scenes - http://www.eoshd.com/content/482-Darren-Aronofsky-new-film-Black-Swan-shot-on-7D-1D-Mk-IV-and-16mm - http://www.alexandrosmaragos.com/2010/12/black-swan-canon-7d.html

Obviously parts of 127 Hours shot with a 7D, 1D and 5D

28 days later mostly shot with Canon XL-1S

Red state has a 7D listed as one of the cameras used http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/ - it was used for some of the running scenes - http://www.videography.com/article/102638

So why do so many people choose the 7D over the 5D? I thought the 7D has the same sensor as the 550D - ergo it's smaller than the 5D 35mm sensor...

I'm confused.

Does anyone know?

yea but movie like cloverfield were put out by paramount. do you think paramount and their million dollar company heavily edited the film.

The 7D sensor is closer in size to Super35 Film than the larger 5D sensor.

But I thought the 7D and 550D have the same sensor size?

Because as far as I remember the 5D is approx 35mm

Monsters cost the Director/Produce 24K US. The 800K figure comes from additional post after acquisition (as I was told) and Magnet's marketing budget.

Most of Cloverfield was also shot on an F23, for reference. the HVX200 connected to an external recording setup was used in most of the party scene, etc.

They do. As you can see from that diagram, full-frame 35mm is substantially larger than Super35 motion picture film.

(Motion picture versus stills 35mm.)

So most films use 35mm or super 35mm? :)

Most films use motion picture 35mm (Super35 is just a cropped/more widescreen version). The use of full-frame 35mm/Vistavision (referred to in the stills world as 135) would be cost-prohibitive and impractical for an entire movie, but in the not-so-distant past it was very popular for background and special effects plates due to the larger frame's superior resolution.

Well I guess this is a good a place to ask as any:

Does anyone know of any websites where technical info on films is readily available? Particularly the equipment used and even more specifically, camera equipment used?

I've just been using IMDB for this, but sometimes it isn't very thorough.

Cheers
