Lighting kit question and help.

I have finally been able to save up about $400 bucks, can go a smidgen higher if necessary, and I want to get the best lighting setup/kit or whatever I can. What do you recommend? I'm looking at the ones with barn doors and the soft boxes assuming I need both? Any help would be really appreciated, thank you!

PS All I have for lighting now is 2 clamp lights.

I wouldn't be going for cheap knockoffs, but you're going to struggle to get a whole kit of arri lights for <$400, even used.
Other (somewhat cheaper) light brands I'd reccommend are Filmgear, Ianiro, Dedo and Photon Beard. Also heard things about DeSisti, but haven't used them so can't comment. You might want to check out coollights.biz as well.

My personal feeling would be to stay away from LEDs. I hate their inherent colour shift. Some people swear by them, and considering their low power draw they can be somewhat attractive, I'm just not a big fan at all.
Unless you can afford the new Arri L series... :P
