Length for a Teaser/Trailer for a short film?

A teaser for a feature is usually around 30 sek - 1 min and a trailer 2-2,30 min.
How long should it be for a 10 min Short film you think? Is there any rule of thumb?
Doesn't make much sense to cut a 2 min trailer for a 5 min short.
Doesn it make sense to cut both a teaser and a trailer for a short?

Context needed please.

Will this film be viewable, free, online? In this case no trailer or teaser needed. Just share the video on social media, or a slick poster to promote it. It's a short. Better to get people watching right away and hook them, then to show a teaser online.

Or will this be for sale and that is why you ask?

Or is this to promote it at a festival?

I agree with the fact you don't really need one.
That said, if you must, I wouldn't make it any longer than 30 secs. You can make something very cool in that time with some clever editing (and MUSIC!).

Why not try all three? A 30 second, a 1 minute and a 2 minute.

Editing a trailer is a great learning experience. You will learn SO
much. Expanding your understanding of how a trailer works is
a good thing.

Is there a reason NOT to do that?

Far more important than a trailer for online is...

YOUR THUMBNAIL IMAGE

Put time into that thumbnail, it's way more likely to get people to click..
Odds are they won't even click to watch 2 seconds of your trailer without a good thumbnail
