Just A Young Girl

Hi, I'm Michelle and i'm only 14 years old.

I've loved making videos since I was 10 years old. Now I make videos like my own original music video's with songs ripped of CD's. In the future I hope to become an filmmaker. Not sure which direction though. Also, I really want to learn. But I want an professional view on my videos. I know I still have to learn a lot, so I would love to have tips.

Wow, I think that's awesome! Will definitely check out your clips.

Alot of great people here with a LOT of experience-feel free to ask, and welcome to our corner of the universe!

Hi "neighbour"

I think you really have a talent and a good feeling for camera work and editing.
Well, I am not an expert for music videos (don't watch them often), but in my opinion you catched the style of them.

Three things that came in my mind on your up-beat video:
- there could be more and faster movement of actors and camera, as the song seems to me a bit faster than the picture
- I felt some scenes were little too dark. You always should light your scenes good and darken it on the computer
- The first 15 seconds are awesome, you could put that into a professional music video and no one would ask questions

Just checked out some of your non-music videos. Keep on making this stuff, I'd love to see more :)

Hi Michelle,

Just the standard warning... I would be careful about using the word "original" when you're taking other people's music like that. I assume you didn't get permission first.

Technically, it's a copyright issue, and you could potentially get in trouble.

Since you have talent, maybe you should look for local bands to make music videos with, and for. That way it's all legal, and you help them, and they help you.

@polfilmblog

Thank you :) And I realised that, I've been thinking of making a new video with legal music, but I can't seem to find a band like that. Also, i'm only fourteen, and that means that a lot of people have been saying that I could never make a good video because i'm that young. I've tried one time to record a song with a friend and use that, also that didn't work out. I'm still trying to find people though. But thanks so much!

I hate to be the one to say this but you really need to be careful with how much information you share about yourself online. Just through this post I already know a lot of personal information about you.

IME, there are far less nice people in the world than nasty. Please be careful and protect yourself by not sharing so much information online. And if anyone online asks to meet you in person, I hope you have the good sense to say no.

Hi Michelle, and welcome! It's always a great pleasure to see young women taking up filmmaking.

Since I'm old enough to be your mom, I hope this doesn't sound too preachy. .. The second video shows you really possess talent. The first one, because you are so young and the other girls I assume are around your age, well, some of the shots kinda give me the creeps watching them. ...way too suggestive. Yes, I understand that you're of a different generation and that pop female role models seem to legitimize certain behaviors. I just think since you do have talent, you should filter that into works which display your intellect and creativeness. Sorry for the rant, but whenever my creep barometer peeks, I feel the need to comment. Please don't take any of this personally, I think you have a great future! :)

Hi! Thanks for the tip about the suggestive :D But I didn't really see the .. suggestive part, :S Actually I think I look kind of silly, so I would love to know what part that was. :D

Besides that, thanks, it means a lot to me. I really feel like learning more and stuff! And I really wanted to know how 'other' people would feel about it!

I love the Adele song (it's been stuck in my head for about a fortnight now) and I think that video shows that you might well have a more interesting and educational experience trying a narrative project. And, as pol says, that would circumvent the potential for YouTube to suddenly remove your videos due to copyright violation...

I think the parts lying on the bed along with the lines sung are a little too much. Again, your age is really the determinate of why I consider it problematic to watch. I bet if you sat down and read the lines to the Cyrus song, you could come up with some really compelling imagery to accompany it. That's what the creative process is about...you want to find your voice, what's unique to your vision, not how you've seen other people interpret things. Now let those ideas flow, Little Sister!

Thanks! Haha, it's actually funny how it went. We we're supposed to make our own unique version to Raise Your Glass with an full script with all my ideas. But it failed, because a lot of people cancelled at the end. But my friend (you can see her in the video), really wanted to be in one of my videos. It was getting later and later and we didn't have a song or a plot. So that's why the video is not that unique. It was more for fun, but I liked how it turned out, because I really liked the strings of lights and everything. :D
