Jackass 3D

I still haven't seen it, but I think people are going to this because the commercials (flying outhouse and giant hand slap) are pretty darn funny - regardless if it's 3-D or not. I do agree that 3-D, as a gimmick, does go along with the whacky material.

Putting aside (for the moment) whether it’s a good or bad movie,
if it should or should not be still going, if it’s funny or not;
doesn’t this support the opinion that 3D is a gimmick?

The entire “Jackass” series is a gimmick and 3D just added to the
gimmick. Does this movie demonstrate that 3D can be used well for
a drama, thriller, comedy or romcom? Or that using 3D as a gimmick
can be very effective?

Would Eastwood’s “Hereafter” or “The Social Network”, “The Town”
or even “RED” have benefited from the use of 3D?

Well, I don't know that slapstick and gimmick are the same thing. "Jackass"
is funny to some people in the same way that "3 Stooges" is funny to some
people, except one of them is a tad more extreme. But that's beside the
point, anyway.

ALL I'm saying in this thread is ONE thing - the 3D looks good in "Jackass 3D".

See, that's kinda big, in my opinion, because it's never looked good in
any other live-action movie, unless you count "Avatar". Forget about whether
it's a gimmick, or whether it has anything to add to the movie, cuz
that's not what I'm talking about at all. All I'm saying is that it looks good,
just as good as in any animated movie I've seen. All I'm doing is reporting
that it's finally working on an aesthetic level, nothing more.

I've heard it sucked but i've been too busy to check it out myself. I will soon though.
I hated alice in wonderland in 3d....

I hated (well, hate is probably too strong a word) Alice in Wonderland in 2D! Very disappointed in that movie.

Just smuggle a 5th of Jack Daniels and spike the Cokes. :D

I agree. My point wasn't if the movie was funny or not - that has
been discussed in other posts.

I understood that. I think it looks good, too. I'm not disrespecting
you or even commenting on your opinion - all I'm commenting on
is the practical use of 3D in cinema.

I know you aren't talking about that - I am. Which is why I waited
over a week to post my opinion. I let the conversation turn into
whether "Jackass" is funny or not before I changed gears a bit.

Sorry about that.

Word. No need for any apology. Sometimes it just takes me a minute
to get on the same page as you, but I hear ya. Cheers. :)
