I Hate Irene

Sounds like a good film, huh?

Actually, my wife, daughter and I were scheduled to take a very long weekend to visit my sister and her family this weekend. Unfortunately some bitch named Irene appeared. Not only do I not get some relaxation time, I spent all day today emptying out my studio and moving it to "higher ground". My living room and bedroom are now full of monitor screens, audio monitors, crates of cables and electric, racks of gear, FW drives, etc., etc., etc. Unfortunately my Foley props collection will have to stay in the studio.

We're hoping that all this moving will prove unnecessary, but better safe than sorry. Tomorrow will be spent sandbagging the property against potential flooding.

Anyone else in Irene's way?

Took me a few sentences to realise what you were talking about, but I get it now. Well, that sucks. Best batten down the hatches and rent a DVD copy of Twister for the worst of it.

Fingers crossed!

That sucks man. Didn't you just go through this last year??

That was back in '07, but I didn't get the opportunity to get much out. At least all the gear is safe - unless the flooding gets over 5 feet, at which time it will start coming in the front door...

We're in the path of it, but it's probably going to be a tropical storm by the time it hits us. I'm just worried about the leaky roof in our addition...

She is litterly just east of me at the moment we just had a little bit of wind and rain. It looks like it keeps going more and more east as time go on so it will probably just miss you aswell

I sure as hell hope so. Right now the local authorities are telling us to prepare for a category 1 or 2. Even if the heavy winds miss us we're pretty water-logged around here right now, so a few inches of rain will definitely flood the neighborhood. The "bright side" is that if we don't get flooded at least the studio gets a really good cleaning, and I can rearrange a few things.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you, Alcove. I went through 2 hurricanes in 2004, a category 2 & 3. Even though we had about 9 inches of rain both times, they were mostly wind events.

I feel for you and the worry is half the angst. Stay safe.

Today we received an evacuation notice for noon Saturday. We're packing up out clothes and valuables and getting ready to boogie on out.

Damn!
