These little birds fascinate me.

Over the weekend I had some fun.

I just stood there, about three feet from the feeder and waited. Eventually, after about 20 mins, the birds just ignored me..

I tried every technique on the GH2. still photography, video etc. The best by far was this BURST MODE capture. Only 2 seconds of footage, but came out OK.


I had the shutter speed way up in the 1/2000 of a second range.
At that fast of shutter speed, with the sunset light levels, I had to set the ISO to 1600 to get a decent exposure, plus I had to open the iris more then I wanted, the DOF is to shallow to make this an easy shot. I think I nailed focus on the eye though.. took about 10 tries!

Id never used burst mode before, seemed like great quality for the settings.. In post it shows a very high bitrate, 300MBS. I think there are some hacks to push this even further...
 
yaknow, Im somewhat ignorant here. Yes it was a series of still images..

I guess its 40fps for one second, ... so then the playback in my vimeo is 30fps so even the real time playback is a bit off.

I think a higher bitrate hacked GH2 1080p footage will looks as good. Maybe Ill test it again..
