how do actors or child celebs make a living after their 15 mins?

Some might even clean toilets. If they genuinely cant get no acting work, why would that be below them? If times are tough, janitor jobs tend to pay pretty well compared to other low skilled jobs.

i'm still just looking for one example where anyone in film or music was famous at one time and then out of desperation had to take a common job where common people could point and stare at them .

They say its a harsh world but i think this is rarely the case .Its only harsh for the special ones

celebrity seems to leverage itself easy.
i thknk damon waynes is a businessman now

I think it's funny the way you can't seem to fathom how people who used to be in movies might later go on to get 'ordinary' jobs.

i'm still just looking for one example

Gary Coleman became a security guard.
The boy from Hook became a lawyer.
One of the sons from Home Improvement works at a vegan farm and makes non-dairy cheese.
The girl from the Little rascals works at Starbucks.

All sourced from this site, which took me about two seconds to find using google;

Another change from your original question. This one's easy - several websites
answer this question:
Jackie Earl Haley delivered pizza before getting back into acting.
Sly Stone worked in a coffee shop in LA
Margo Kidder works in a diner in Montana
Natasha Lyonne worked at a Denny's in Hollywood before crashing hard and
then getting back into acting.
When I was living near Hollywood/La Brea I saw Danny Bonaduce living in his
car in the area. Tourists would ask for his autograph.
Willie Aames worked a series of odd jobs including a janitor in an office building
Taran Noah Smith blew all his money and ended up delivering pizzas and working
in fast food places.
Jodie Sweetin married a cop and then fell into drug addiction. Don't know if she
ever had a common job where common people could point and stare at her.
It is widely rumored here in LA that Leif Garrett works as an "escort" (both men
and women) capitalizing on his teen idol past. Don't know if that's true.

Now you have several examples. Even actors have to make a living so when
they can't find acting work they take regular jobs.

Also don't assume just because a child actor doesn't go on to become a huge star they are not still getting enough acting work to live on.

When was the last time you saw Henry Thomas (the boy from ET) in anything?
What about Ham or Scotty from 'The Sandlot'?
Rufio from 'Hook'?
The girl from 'Waterworld?'
Even someone like Haley Joel Osment?

Those are just some random examples, but have a look at imdb and you'll see they've all been working pretty solidly in show-biz ever since their 'child-star' days, even if most people wouldn't be aware of their presence.
No need to scrub toilets when there's so much Hollywood junk out there to act in.

Some people take jobs even DURING their 15 mins of fame.
Daniel day lewis works as a shoe cobbler when he isn't acting.

It would be cool to walk around in a pair of his shoes. :)

As an anecdote relevant to this thread.

I was in the Army in the mid 90's and stationed in Korea. One of the soldiers in my company turned out to be child star on a popular children's show that ran in the late seventies through the mid 80's.

You never would have noticed it, but once you found out, you saw the resemblance. Great guy, no idea what he is doing now. I just looked him up after reading this thread. His IMDB still has just that show as a credit. Looks like he got out of the Army a bit ago.

Well, Bert Heerink, the lead singer from Vanderberg (known for their biggest hit 'Burning Heart' in 1983) worked in a factory (doing assembly work) after Vanderberg was no more. (Adje Vanderberg joined Whitesnake in 1987.)
He was still a singer but couldn't live from it anymore untill his comeback in The Netherlands in 2000.
What he does now: I don't know. I guess he is still singing.
I do know he told in an interview that it was a bit weird to work in a factory and having co-workers yell through the hall: "Bert, you're on the radio!" and then sing along.

BTW, in music there are a lot of examples of 'one hit wonders' who disappeared to open a bar or do some other job.

The fact that you can't name anyone who fits your question, doesn't mean it doesn't happen OR that the opposite (if you played in 1 successfull movie you will never have to work again) is always true.
Do you need to proof this idea to get an actor on board? ;)

Well, mostly they disappear from their 'fame world' and go into more mundane professions once they grow up (like the rest of us 'mere mortals') :P

What happens to anybody when their first choice job fails, they have to take another occupation / work in another sector its normal life. There are many one hit wonders in movies and music who go on to have mundane jobs.

I think they have more chance to get better job or can be more respectful but if no other opportunity they work like other people.
