I want to hire a movie actor with a name. Where is a good place to start? How would I go about hunting these actors down?

JK kinda. I'm really not sure, but if they "have a name" they will probably be in SAG. You might be able to get them there. But IDK for sure.
Contact SAG. They will have the contact information, usually a manager or agent. Be prepared with all of the pertinent production information (including budget, producers and key crew) and to send a script.
Either contact SAG and ask for their reps contact information. Or, better yet is to have a IMDBpro account. Look for movie actors you like on film search for them by name, look at all their IMDB credits, hit the contact tab up top, find the rep at the big talent agency, and have money in the bank to have the agent take you seriously. Remember, it's an agents job to pluck away the wannabe producers and casting directors from their talent.

Yeah, I was gonnna say IMDBpro will have their contact info. That's actually a chunk of my proposed feature budget. It's just so huge to getting distribution.
