Hello!

Well i've been poking around here for a while now, antagonising Avatar fans, so i thought i should introduce myself.

Hello.

I'm Nick and i'm from London, England .

I am the proud owner of a Canon EOS 550D (yes, i'm English) and plan on using it to shoot film. Most of my experience has been in theatre, as an actor, writer and director, but my first love (other than literature :p ) has always been film.

I've called myself Nick Clapper because i run a film blog/site called The Clapper Bored! Feel free to check it out, no one else does! http://TheClapperBored.com or http://twitter.com/theclapperbored

Peace out!
Nick

Perhaps i am. But, as you might've been able to tell, i'm not a big 3D fan- so it's hard to enjoy any films that give you headaches.

But i thought i was being quite soft :)

Yeah, that sucks that it gives you headaches. I've got a couple friends who experience the same thing. That would definitely ruin a movie.

You know how everybody literally has different taste-buds? We don't actually taste food the same. Lately, I've been thinking we don't see the world the same either. I mean literal vision.

I think for some people, the 3D movies are more 3D, if that makes sense. I hear some people talk about them like there's stuff coming at them from the screen. Me? I don't see that. From my eyes, it looks as if someone has cut a hole in the wall, where the screen would've been, and I'm watching what is taking place on the other side of the wall. But nothing is coming at me any farther than where the screen is. And then you've got the small number of people who get headaches, and that's surely something real, and particular to your biology. Hmm, weird.

Anyway, "Toy Story 3" is the only movie I've seen this year that I've given an "A+" to. I also think it's the best ending to any trilogy ever made.

P.S. I never felt antagonized. Debating movies is just all in good fun.

Very true. I know someone who enjoyed 'Grown Ups'. Proof indeed.

I love Aziz Ansari's joke at the MTV movie awards (it's so true for me)- Now some people don’t like 3D. I love 3D. I love 3D. But full disclosure: I also think that headaches are dope so I’m a little bit biased!

Hello there Nick, I really enjoyed reading through your film reviews, although saying inception is not a clever movie is a bit far fetched. ;)

Oh, and welcome!

Hey there Nick! I see you're from Canterbury too, that was unexpected! Whereabouts in the area do you live? Do you go to Uni at the moment? I'm taking a look at your blog site and i'll let you know what I think when i've read more...there is a LOT to say about 3D though. I think it does work if it's not crowbarred in senselessly (and there is a LOT of Hollywood films which milk it for the sake of a higher profit) and the things leaping out at the screen toward you have a PURPOSE. Not just random objects.

Much like Cracker Funk, I don't really see 3D as anything more than a shift in the depth of field, though. Most of the visuals in Toy Story 3 and Avatar do not make me amazed by their 3D effects, they just add a subtle visual difference. Perhaps that's the point and why they're pretty good films, because they're not just reliant on the 3D element like a lot of VERY crap films. Beowulf.

Okay, i'll stop ranting in your welcome thread, nice to meet you anyway man =]
