Harry Harrison - so long

I know there's more than one sci-fi nerd on this forum who owes this man a thanks for kickstarting that imagination into high orbit. There wouldn't have been the
butchery of the
classic book "Make Room! Make Room!" into the film known as "Soylent Green", without this man.

My personal fave of his was "Bill the Galactic Hero" and to hell with the terrible sequels!

Another certain forum member was all about "Deathworld". I hope his dream eventually comes true, and the film gets funded.

At any rate... we've lost another sci-fi giant.

Or maybe he's just faked his death to collect on an insurance scam with 'Slippery' Jim DiGriz. Who can know for sure? :hmm:

There are certain aspects of my personal philosophy that I can trace directly back to the influence of the Stainless Steel Rat. I even tried to learn esperanto in jr. high because of those books... he'll definitely be missed. I realize now I've only read about half of his more 'adult' books, I may have to catch up here soon.
