Happy Anniversary MTV

Not sure how they can have an anniversary when they are not around anymore.

Good stuff! Actually was listening to the Buggles not too long ago. Still a great record (their second wasn't too bad either). For me, MTV lived (and died) with 120 minutes. Great stuff, though I stopped watching not long after Matt Pinfield started hosting. According to wikipedia, he's bringing it back! Inspiring a new generation of angsty outcasts!

Oh yeah, and top 10 videos that got heavy rotation back in the day, but would never be played now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jItz-uNjoZA

I have to admit, I got a litle sad when the whole reality tv or as I like to call it "Operation Let's make everyone retarded".

Speaking of MTV, I saw this today.

Just a fad, huh?

As the article I found this video is said, "There are also tons of screen shots that will make you nostalgic for the Geocities website you had in sixth grade." True. Very true.

Remember Friday Night Video Fights? The precursor to the Top Twenty Countdown. We used to stay up late watching Friday Night Video Fights.

Then Headbanger's Ball. No sleep Saturday nights because of Headbanger's Ball.

120 Minutes was the best, though. The early, pre-Matt Pinfield years. I saw PJ Harvey sing Howlin' Wolf's "Wang Dang Doodle" live on 120 Minutes and think that's probably when I came of age. Well, at the very least, I'm pretty sure I came.

Oh, and I believe the new Beavis and Butthead that is supposed to launch soon will be slightly different than the first incarnation. Instead of making fun of videos, they will make fun of the shitty MTV reality shows.

Awesome!

I was that poor kid on the block, who didn't have cable television until well into the 90's. So my only source of music videos was Friday Night Videos, but you could always count on them to play whatever was hottest at the time.

I have, literally, not watched MtV in 10-12 years. Seriously, not one minute, that I can remember. Never thought of it til now. The last things I remember watching on MTZ are: Beavis and Butthead, The Maxx, Aeon Flux, and before that Liquid Television. "Hey Dog Boy." If anyone remembers that I'll shit.

I guess I watched MTV as it was making the transition to just 'TV.:)
