Hi All,

I am a thirty year old ex media school dropout and really want to get into independent film making.

I've got a camcorder which I plan to practice with over the next few months (its a dvd camcorder, so theres no way I can edit anything smoothly which is a huge shame :() and then plan to get my hands on a HD Camera and get stuck into movie making.

Really looking forward to making my first proper short which I plan to produce after the summer. After that, who knows? Non/low budget feature... Watch this space :lol:

Would be really nice to hear from anyone out there in the UK and elsewhere. If you're local to me (Liverpool, Merseyside etc) and need some help with productions etc, get in touch. I would love to give you a hand if we could work something out...

Welcome to the community.

I'm local, but we haven't got anything set for a production in Liverpool/Merseyside just yet (Most of us are based in Southeast). We've mostly been shooting in Sheffield, Cambridge etc.

Keep a lookout on the message boards, Gumtree, Talentcircle, Castingcallpro, advertising for local productions. Even though, ofcourse, the advertisements are for acting roles on the latter two, it wouldn't hurt to drop the guys an email if you just want to get some experience on set. Just a headsup.

Hello!

You should be able to get crew through Talent Circle or Mandy if you need it. I've only been to Liverpool once in my life (to see my beloved West Ham snatch a draw with Everton) but I'm sure there's a decent filmmaking community either there or Manchester (especially as half the BBC is moving to media city).
