editing Getting old commercials

Quick question: are there any good sources out there for getting ahold of old commercials for use in a documentary (under Fair Use)? Or is it just down to grabbing them off the tapes I've got stashed in the attic?

Lots of fun for mashups I did a video for Halloween last year where I used a bunch of medical test footage from USSR.. very creepy, and fun..

speaking of old commercials on prelinger... They have reels of old commercials there that are supposed to be creative commons, but if the commercial is for a brand that is still around and mainstream would I be able to use it? It seems to me that even if the video is fair use, logos and branding would remain copywrited, esp when it's branding the company is still using.

yeah, I think your right. .but you can do a lot with computers these days.. blur out the actual product labels etc.
