*sniff*
okay... get it together, Torb... it's just a movie...
Brenton, I'm going to march against the borg on the adult Voice Over bit,
It's the Charlie Brown "blah blah blah blah blah" thing...
I feel hearing the actual words spoken by the adults would have Ruined it for me.
Having the adults both visually AND audibly 'out of focus' TOTALLY put me
into the girls perspective... a child's perspective... and allowed me to
completely empathize with the little girl.
I feel that if any aspect of the adults was any "sharper" then my
focus (and empathy) would have shifted towards them, the emotional
impact on me would have diminished greatly, that I would Not be a
blubbering idiot right now, and this overwhelming desire burning in
my heart to rush over to my daughters house and wake her up
in the dead of night and give her a great big hug would not exist...
And I have the funny feeling that THAT was the exact intended purpose
of your flick: To club parents of young children upside the head with a
wet sack of ooey gooey emotions and make them think twice
about what's Really important in this world.
