End of the World

Meh. Life is finite. I've come to grips with that.

If you think about the logistics of leaving our solar system, colonizing a planet that is even remotely similar to ours, it's going to require some science and technology that is so out there that it's not just far beyond current technology (and scientific knowledge), but it's kinda hokey and unrealistic. Basically, we need a "worm-hole" (and the ability to control it), which is a silly idea, if you think about it.

Might as well make our finite time on Earth as good as it can be. I guess that makes me an "enviro-nazi". :)

 Hardly.

Like I think already expressed, that might make the most sense.

On the other hand...

It occurred to me that it might be wise for humanity, those who are so disposed to support the colonization of space, to adopt and adapt a new vision of Manifest Destiny…the Manifest Destiny to save the human species –and others- from certain extinction by the next ELE or the mortality of the solar system itself.

It may be that wormholes and warpdrives are not necessary. For a Star Trek Future, yes, but for what's more likely, maybe not.

On Thursday, Archeologists in Mexico, reported that they have just discovered in a Tortuguero site (State of Tabasco, Mexico) more Mayan Long Count Calendar clues on what will supposedly happen on Dec. 13, 2012 when the 13th Baktun ends...

Bolon Yokte, a mysterious Mayan God of war & creation will arrive...

Kool-aid for the masses... So many ideas for movies and so little time to make it happen!

I think you will find Goron Michael Scallion's theories on Lemuria facinating about end of the world stuff. According to Gordon Michael Scallion, Humans are the descendants of the Lemurians who came from 2 previous solar systems in our galaxy before landing on Mars. And, finally, landing on Earth to form the ancient civilization of the fabled Lemuria that co-existed with Atlantis for about 40,000 years. The theory is really out there. But, there is plenty of great ideas for science fiction and end of the world stories.
