Determining music video bid.

.. I don't want to ask out in public, so I posted to ask a Pro.

By my limited accounts, I found indie music vid budgets range from 4,000 to 6,000. I'm only going by reports from one Record Label. I know some can be waaaay up there, I've even billed more for that just for matte paintings on one. But, I am talking about a video I can solo produce, which keeps me more towards the indie market. I've heard ranges from 2,500 to 6,000.

Can anyone give me a hint as to the cost to the record label for different types of music videos?

thanks in advance.

Also I don't mean to hi-jack but if I were to get into freelance video production how do you determine what to charge the clients? Obviously it must vary depending on time/materials involved/etc but is there a rough number system?

The range is all over the place. I suspect you are asking
something more specific because I know you know the
costs can be several thousand to several hundred thousand.

I recently directed one for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy that was
in the $45,000 range.
