editing Best MiniDVs

Quite honestly, I've always used the Panasonic tapes you can get at most any store and haven't had a single drop out. Works well enough for me and I can easily get more if I need to which can matter if you're in a tight spot and want to keep the camera on one tape type. :)
 
I use only the Panasonic Master tapes (AY - DVM63MQ). The five pack is a pretty good deal.

I didn't realize they were this popular, although I may know why Steve is using them. ;)
 
I've heard that if you find a brand you like stick with it. Otherwise you will dirty your heads faster because all the companies use different stuff on their tapes and using different brands will cause a faster build up somehow. Just what I've heard.
