AVI Tutorials for those interested in 3D

Im gonna make a series of Tutorials in AVI (in the coming days).. they will be 15fps with 800x600 full frame so you can see things in detail. but it will be done in 16 bit so there is a little color bleeding.

The software Im using is 3D Studio Max r6. You can actually download a trial version from Discreet.com

http://www4.discreet.com/3dsmax/index7.php#

its 30 days and may limit your ability to import max files but I believe its a full functional software that only becomes crippled at the end of the 30 days. I heard by some that the software keeps running afterwards. I know Maya offers a trial (Or did) that is on going. Not for use for commercial work of course.

If you have skills in 3dsmax or MAYA or lightwave please feel free to make tutorials and post them in this thread. I prefer avi format but you can link or make a visual text/jpg tut for this thread.

You will need a CoDec to view my Tutorials. the CoDec is Camtasia's TSCC codec. its free to download. also if you like, Camtasia also has a free 30 day fully functional trial (but i think its watermarked) which has the TSCC built into it.

to get the trial click to download.

to get just the codec to view my tuts in Windows Media Player go click this to download.

I dont believe WinAmp plays TCSS codecs but you can try.

Tutorials are always a great contribution, Mr Goldfish!

I'm looking forward to seeing some fun and informative "how to model" tips, tricks and examples.

Myself, I couldn't model my way out of a 70's fashion magasine if I tried.

You might want to replace that .exe url with a download page, btw. People tend to (as they should) be leery of downloading executables without a website to refer to first.

yeah.. i thought about that too.. i know i am.

OK, thanks for posting the main page.. there is a ton of stuff on there so i just wanted to make it easy on them.

Guys... even with the TSCC codec.. the size of my tutes are huge. like 10-40 megs

Can you guys see if you feel comfortable with this test tut i made in wmv format. it will reduce the size by 1/4th.

also, indietalk, do you have room on your website for the TSCC tuts that I can upload and link to in here? if not.. I hope the WMV files will be ok.

click this and test it in Full Screen.. I can see everything on a 19 inch monitor but its slilghtly color bleeded.

its kind of muffled.. i was tired when I made it.. the tscc avi is much smoother. but if you guys can understand this and see it ok I will go with wmv.

PS its only 4fps instead of 15. still works good.

Looks great to me! Although when you get into the modeling, if you do, you may need more clarity. Larger file sizes are fine. Especially since the plan would be to make them available on DVD, Right? After us IndieTalkers testdrive the tuts for you.....

Yeah.. if it comes to something that requires clarity, then Yes.. you're all going to have to download the TSCC codec.

If you need space, Mr Fish, I have some to spare over at ol' ZenWeasel.

cool.. ill send it to you if you can host like 40 or 60 megs.

I would like to buy a domain and find a place that offers a good amount of storage and unlimited bandwith if possible for my future animations and movies.

I can handle that no problem. I'll set up an upload form this weekend, so you can just send it to the server direct. I'll PM the url when it's done.

I would like to buy a domain and find a place that offers a good amount of storage and unlimited bandwith

My a/v stuff is all on Globat.com

It was $90-ish for a year, and that included the domain name. It has an ungodly amount of storage space (though technically no more than 50% is supposed to be a/v) and a lot of bandwidth. (Not unlimited, though... but a lot) I've never blown the 100% mark.

There are many other similarly priced hosts out there. Check them out. If you decide that Globat is for you after comparing, check with Logan before signing up. He gets a free month or something, for referrals. Just need to sign up via his link.

Cool.. I hope its capped. some places just start charging if you do go over the alotted amount. The place I get I want it to shut down bandwith and post a note stating I went over my limit.

Sorry guys.. Things have been busy.> i promise by late december (If my house is sold and everything goes well with my move) that i will start working on a s-load of files to download.

But it seems not alot of people are regs on here anyways.

ok.. If anyone can do some cool gif/text tuts on photoshop and I learn them, i can then do them on camtasia as well.

I want to fill my website with tutorials and ideas for film students.
