Any Goonies fans here?

Holy cow, Congrats.

For the record, and the sad man that tends to the record keeping, i myself do not like cake. Now who's gonna pick on me and Ernest? You better back off, Dready.

I'm a fan of the Goonies too. Loved that movie as a kid. The same kid that played Shorty from Indiana Jones Temple of Doom was in Goonies. I thought Shorty was funny in Temple and Goonies. It has been awhile since I saw the movie but I do like it.

Here come Debbie Downer!

Anybody ever notice how racist "Goonies" is?

That's not to say I didn't LOVE this movie when I was a kid. And of course, nostalgia and all, I still enjoy it whenever I catch glimpse of it.

It definitely ranks amongst the best of the children's classics. I think I might put "Back to the Future" slightly ahead of it, but that's beside the point.

2001, congrats on the book. That's really cool.

Haha. Funny song, and a lot of truth in it, in my opinion. Okay, we're side-tracking (always my fault), but I actually believe this to just be a natural condition of human-nature -- our brain functions largely by making generalizations about everything. That being said, I think Hollywood's caricatures are quite tiresome, and Short-Round (or whatever his name is in "Goonies") is just a tad too much. He's like the 80's equivalent of the twin-robots in "Transformers 2".

Goonies 2?

Who would be in it? The children of all the principles of the first one?

Goonies 2 would be a disappointment. It's best to let it lie as one of the best 80s movies ever made.

Plus, that kind of mystery couldn't be mustered up in today's world - All you would have to do is Google Chester Copperpot or use GPS or whatever.

That's like talking about making a Citizen Kane 2 IMHO.

Maybe it's just that I'm emotionally attached to it having grown up going to a beach-front family-owned beachhouse every summer on the beach it was filmed on (opening scene 4X4 truck race on the beach with Haystack Rock in the background). [lol how many times did I say beach in that sentence?]

Yeh but think about it,

All those characters would be having their mid-life crisis.

Plus, half of them don't work as actors anymore.

I think I found the script and read it a long time ago - it was on the net at like Goonies.com or something.

I heard there maybe a Goonies 2? Anyone hear about this? I saw it on IMDBPRO.

They've been talking about it for 20 years. Donner is interested, Spielberg is interested, and several of the original cast are interested, but Warner Bros. (who owns the property) is not. How they can say no to Spielberg and Donner is beyond my ability to comprehend.

bah I'd watch it, and so would the countless other fans...

But I think it would still be a disappointment because it wouldn't be like the original - kind of like Indiana Jones...

They'd have CGI and everything... And make it 3D.
