What would be the best way to overlay something animated on my film. Just some low budget special effects. Preferably something I would get to draw myself.
After effects is probably your best bet. from my own experiences, It was a little confusing at first but like Wheatgrinder said go to videocopilot.net and do some tutorials and you will get the hang of the controls and setting also there is alot of great tutorials on youtube.
This looks WAY more advanced then I was hoping for. Let's say if I just wanted to draw a stickman dancing around. Yeah, something more around the "stickman" skill range.
Photoshop, Flash or Fireworks would all easily fit your needs. Fireworks & Flash even have onion-skinning, to help you make accurate frame-by-frame changes relative to previous frames. (Maybe Photoshop does now, too)
Heck, you could use MS-Paint if you wanted. (New pic for each frame, place as overlay, key out the background colour)
If there was something specifically for stickmen, it would look something like this:
Thanks, I guess any editor will let you overlay a series of jpgs or anything like that, I have no idea.
So I will probably be on this site asking noob-ish questions for awhile, I hope you don't get sick of me.
