Am I too old.

Michael Haneke made his first TV only film at the age of 31, and his first film for cinema at 47.
Pier Paolo Pasolini made his first film when he was 39.
Robert Bresson was 33 when he made his first short film.

.
etc. etc.

So...no you are not too old.

Also, as eluded to above, if you don't have a lot of life experience, how do you expect to impart a well-rounded direction to your film? Not to say that Joe Dirt couldn't make a good film, but I would think that a healthy cosmopolitan viewpoint would only brighten a film.

It has been said (by my buddy as well who's almost 40) that directing is a young mans world...which is true to some extent, but in actuality, older (wiser) directors will impart so much more depth into their vision--generally speaking of course.

In MN, it's 16 if you're 18... 17 if you're 19... and 18 if you're 56.

16-18 has a 2 year difference associated with it. And until she's 30, anyone touches my daughter and they'll find out why I own a sword :)
