A good twist to a heist

Okay so I am watching Oceans Eleven. Their heist is pretty simple and straight to the point which why I love the movie. But I was thinking, what would be a good twist to a simple heist movie?

The cops take the money.

The warehouse owner waits with a dozen rent-a-thugs.

The money is Chineese counterfeit.

The casino owner already stole it but is letting the break-in crew take the fall.

One of the vault guards accidentally shot and killed his watch partner and is hiding the body inside.

Satan is waiting in the vault to get out.

A zombie epidemic is breaking out just as they're breaking in.

The crew leader's wife/girlfriend is going into labor weeks earlier than expected - just when the big heist is scheduled.

They leave the casino/bank/vault and just as they exit the driveway they crush a little kid beneath their truck.

One of the crew is an alien abductee - and d@mned if they don't come knocking at an inopportune time.

What are the chances of multiple epileptics getting together but forgetting their meds all at the same time?

Night-before celebration get-together is catered by SalMonella - the next day they're ALL squirting their pants through the heist.

The morning the heist was planned the casino/bank/business locks its doors, out-of-business.

The get-away driver fills the vehicle with NO2, steals the take.

FBI infiltrator goes rogue - kills most of the crew after the heist.

Team leader's wife/girlfriend murders him after the sucessful heist, takes the money and runs away with the computer nerd/poolboy/SteelyDan.

All of the criminals in on the heist are wearing masks. When they do the big mask-removal towards the end of the film, the master criminal is revealed to be M. Night Shyamalan. It's such meta twist, the audience will be stunned. :bag:

Actually that's not a bad idea

They've learned their lesson: No more new crew!

Except...

The kid sister of one of the remaining members is going to goto jail for a felony he/she committed in the interim.
Now he/she's getting pinched by The Man to betray the remaining crew (better to shut down a larger high-line crew than just one petty thief.)
Of course, The Man is also dirty, so it will be a double-double cross where The Man takes the fall in the end.
Ha!

the money heist is a cover for the real crime of revenge

"Inside Man"

Not your usual heist film, and not about revenge, more about justice and vengeance. Not the usual fare from Spike Lee.

Another film about stealing from crooks is "$" (yes, the title of the movie is a dollar sign); this one does have its comic moments.

Not too terrible was "Tower Heist."

And the other crime could be stealing a valuable diamond..
Been done to death.

Diamonds.
Cash.
Cars.
Artwork.
Jewelery/jewels.
N.O.C list.
Bioweapons.
Nuclear materials.
Computer programs.
Prisoners.
Insertion of an idea.
Blah, blah, blah.

What else can we steal or un-steal?
Hmm...

Steal a ship with Chinese slaves?
A dead body?
Baby bigfoot?
Small pox?
A police car or S.W.A.T. command truck! That'd be fun.
Evidence from a police station?
Pot/coke/H/meth from the distributor?
A family?
A circus?
A train?
A plane?
A SuperBowl trophy collection?
The Wall Street bull sculpture?

The crew breaks into the basement vault of a bank by using sophisticated but small boring equipment (this actually happened years ago). This bank is built like a fortress and the vault is several stories underground. The first part of the movie has flashbacks of the crew planning the operation and getting ready to start the plan. Lots of subplots and drama among the crew and families (who don't know what the crew is up to).Their goal is the large stock of cash in the vault but they also want to see what is in the safe deposit boxes since the leader thinks that people hide a lot of wealth they don't want to declare. During these flashbacks there are always TV's playing in the background with stations like CNN, FOX, MSNBC on. The volume is set low but if you pay attention you can hear and see that there is a world crisis going on. Lots of troop movements, terrorist attacks taking place and reports of panic buying in the US and other countries.
Toward the end of the movie the crew has made it into the vault area and are dumfounded by the amount of cash in the vault. Then they start hitting the safe deposit boxes and find even more loot than the leader thought possible. They decide that since they have factored extra time in the getaway they should take everything possible. Their escape route is through a series of sewers and storm drains that come out at a river. Just before they get everything loaded (they are using ATV's with trailers to remove the loot) they feel several thudding vibrations. They think someone is trying to get into the vault from up above and that they have been discovered. They make their escape but when they get to the outlet there is debris covering it. They have some explosives as a backup so they set charges and blow the debris out of the way. When they emerge they discover that the city has been nuked and they are screwed.

Or what about he commits another crime by stealing a Brinks truck full of money and has to hijack a plane to get to mexico before he gets caught.

 love it

If I had the movie where the cops kills everyone and keeps the money to himself would that cross the line of Reservior Dogs? I mean in "RD" they have an inside cop. I don't want to copy..

No, not at all.

The undersover cop in RD wasn't trying to do a single dishonest thing.
He shot to kill for justice.

Your cop is going rogue.

Your concern is not making it look like a mashup of the remake version of "The Italian Job" and "Armored."
