    Title First or Title Last?

I've always found it curious to look at other people's creative processes and to see what they do. That being said, I wondered this, do you, my screenwriting compatriot, write a story/outline/rough draft from the title or build up to it out of an idea? Personally, I've found that working from...

    R ratings?

Why can't I have an opinion about your opinion? Better yet, answer the following: what would be a genuinely scary movie to you that would get an R? Jump scares aren't good horror, at all. Good horror messes with you, but I will say that they didn't give everything away in the trailer. The...

    R ratings?

It's kind of a blurry line. My rule of thumb is write as if you're gonna get an R anyway, unless you're writing a children's film or something of the sort. If not, you're better off writing under the assumption that whatever you write will get an R so you won't limit yourself. Ah, the cries of...

Is there a such thing as too much ambition?

That was probably the one thing we were mid-discussion on when we decided to pull the trigger anyway. So, what we've set forth is just to do the 6 Episodes of Writer's Block, and, in the midst of all the promotion we have to do, hope for the best. If anyone's interested in taking a look, this...

Is there a such thing as too much ambition?

Well, that went terribly. So, from the look of it, Kickstarter won't allow me to do the total of the projects. They want one finite project, so, it's time to get the heads together with the board and figure something out.

Is there a such thing as too much ambition?

Sincerely honest, I didn't realize exactly how well in hand I had it up until I started answering questions. Lol. But, we will definitely kick some major @ss and other parts of the body that have symbols replacing letters!

Is there a such thing as too much ambition?

So, just as a heads-up, falling asleep on your keyboard ends with you having 276 pages of nothing but random letters and spaces and responses to get back to. (Well, they had to write the 50 Shades of Grey screenplay somehow, right?) Terrible idea? Probably. The upside is that most of what is...

Is there a such thing as too much ambition?

I ask this because I'm looking to start a very tumultuous year. In an 11 month span starting December 1st, my team and I are planning to have a crowdfunding campaign up and running for $20,000. That $20,000 is going to cover 3 short films (one musical, one love story, one drama,) and the first 6...

    R.I.P. Blockbuster

I think it's pretty sad. This is a definite sign of the times. You can't even rely on most people to put on a genuine pair of pants anymore. It makes you wonder what would happen if the power grid went dark for a day.

    When to re-write

Personally, I have faith in the fresh eyes tactic, although, it's only after maybe a day or two (where, you know, reality can happen without pissing on my parade.) I think, unless there's something majorly bothering you, give it a day to rest, then come back. If something's really bothering you...

    What's your Dream Remake?

Hate it if you must, but the purpose that it serves is to make sure you don't waste what is (presumably) the one carte blanche opportunity you may have by creating a star vehicle. If you have one star in mind for a specific role, you're no longer making a movie for you, you're making it for them.

    What's your Dream Remake?

I completely agree with this. If you look back at the box office for original movies vs. remakes, you've got only one or two contenders for highest grossing film that isn't a remake/adaptation/rehash/sequel.

    What's your Dream Remake?

Remake, adaptation. Kinda amounts to the same thing, right? I'll say yes, as long as you follow the rules!

    What's your Dream Remake?

Say you were given carte blanche to remake a film with only 3 rules: 1. The movie must be older than you. 2. The movie's story must be a modernization (i.e. it can't be shot-for-shot or a remake set in the same era.) 3. You can't use any of the actors who can be considered well-known. What...

What did you think of the Carrie remake?

I loved it. I thought that the way they built up Margaret as more of a zealot (and overall psychotic ****, for that matter,) even at the beginning. I, unlike most people, thought that Chloe Grace Moretz was a perfect pick, not only because she acted like a normal teen, but because she is one...

What Questions to Ask at A Reading?

Speaking from a theatrical background, one of the big things you may want to do is offer them a piece of scratch paper and a pen apiece and let them take notes, so they don't forget. Encourage them at the beginning to not be afraid to answer questions.

    Death Scenes

Actually, they wanted Tommy to take over, they brought Jason back because A New Beginning was horrible even by Friday the 13th standards (although, if you're rating based on nudity, it's definitely the best!) Note to self: watch the Last House on the Left remake again. I may or may not have...

    Death Scenes

I think it's because an unconscious person creates no suspense. At least with people who trip or who fall through stairs, they have a chance to escape. I lump the unconscious in with children and animals. You wouldn't hurt them because they wouldn't be able to cross you. On the other hand, if...

    Death Scenes

Alrighty... here we go again! lol. The fan was Chucky's death in Child's Play 3, or, if you count lawnmower blades, some poor sap gets a face full of them in Leprechaun.....2? I think... Grenade is difficult, but it's also Child's Play 3, except Whitehurst jumped on it, body first. The punching...

    Death Scenes

(Here's where we find out how big a slasher flick nerd I really am.) The eye-scream impalement has been done, but I'm not sure it has with a roasting skewer... The Grater to the face was kind of done in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. It was more of an actual grate in a morgue, but it's...
