    Some advice needed

Thanks :) Yes, I've done a couple of shorts myself, and have worked on numerous others in various roles, mainly as a production runner, but I also spent some time as an Assistant Director on two projects. I originally had the intention of only writing this feature, but as I was writing I was...

    Some advice needed

Hello everyone, So last summer, I attempted my first feature film. Long story short, it was an utter disaster. Various things went wrong, all of which I feel as though I have since learned from. For example, my shooting schedule was all over the place and never finalised, the main character...

How many flashbacks is too many

To be honest, as long as it makes for a coherent story and they're necessary, there isn't really a limit imo. If it adds value to the story and takes it forward, it doesn't matter if it's a flashback - use it! :)

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Elysium - 5/10 Good setting for the film, but in my opinion it was fairly weak and didn't make the most of itself. Shame really.

Best field monitor on a budget

Hello everyone, So I'm on a budget and in need of a field monitor. I'm using a DSLR and although the monitor won't be necessary at all times, it's obviously something that is very handy to have. I was wondering what everyone recommends. My budget isn't strict, but I'd prefer to keep it as...

Using References to Real Companies in Dialogue

What about mentioning a character from another film? Like someone declares their love for Captain America? Would that be the same as the possible company issues?

[South London] Multiple positions needed for Feature Film

We have multiple positions that need filling on our crew for our feature film, which enters production this coming June. The film is a post-apocalyptic action film, and follows our protagonist as she fights her way through the hell left behind by Society's collapse. The most vital of these is...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Django Unchained Should have seen it sooner. Visually entertaining as always with a Tarantino film, and the story was good too. Although I like Tarantino, for some reason I wasn't expecting to like it, so was pleasantly surprised. 8/10

    Day-for-Night

Hello everyone, Apologies if this has been covered before. Just wondering if anyone had any tips on what type of filter/lens to buy, or post production software to use, for good day-for-night footage? I don't have the budget to get good enough lighting to film at night, so I'll need to film...

Do I do it or not?

Ok so here's my story: I'm 19 years old, and I plan on beginning my first feature film very shortly. I'm not expecting greatness to come of it; it's more of a story that I'm desperate to make into a film, and it'll be good experience. Once that's completed some time this year, I'd like to move...

    Networking in IndieTalk

So like everyone here, I'm looking to network with those local to me so I can help them and they can help me, and I can eventually build a team up. However, there's no easy way to do it on here. I don't want to clog up the 'newbies' forum, neither do I want to clog up the 'Welcome' forum, as I...

    Making my first casting call

Hello everyone, I'm shooting my first feature from next February (possibly later, but thats the current schedule). Anyway, everything I've created so far has involved friends or friends of friends acting in them, so I've never experienced issuing a casting call before. I was just wondering...

    Specific tips and advice, please?

Ok thank you. I'm still struggling with making dialogue flow naturally, but I guess the more I do it the better I will get. All these posts helped though, so thank you :)

    Specific tips and advice, please?

Ok so I'm currently in planning for my first feature, which I will begin production on next year. I have the idea of the film, what the basic premise is etc. but I need some advice/tips. The film is predominantly based around a chase/run sequence, which will almost all be in real time (film...

watch My second short - feedback appreciated!

Thank you for your feedback. A microphone is admittedly top of my 'to buy' list. I'll certainly work on different angles for action sequences, as I know that's definitely one of my weakest points.
