    watch Artorius' Shorts

I will say that I was not the editor and did not create the credits. I do understand that opening credits for a no name short are excessive though. I'll keep that in mind for my next short. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

    watch Artorius' Shorts

I have a new short here. Shot with my GH2. Please critique. Be as harsh as you please. My main lens was a Sigma 19mm, this was supplemented by a SMC Takumar 55 f2. It was unhacked. This was shot over three days. Well, here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV2F43g8tTY Please refrain from...

My lense will not focus for an extreme close up shot,

Outdoor location+no lights= use your car's headlights. Seriously. It helps immensely when you've either got no money for lights, or just no way to set up lights. You can use different techniques to diffuse the light if its too harsh for you.

My lense will not focus for an extreme close up shot,

It might be a B4 or similar broadcast lens, in which case it would not cover the frame of your camera.

MFT Lenses vs. other mount types

It also depends on preference and what you intend to use it for. If you want to get into photography, MFT is a great choice. Not to mention, manual MFT glass will work on the BMCC, not to mention the upcoming Digital Bolex(not a fan, but hey, its going to be out there). The Ikonoskop also shoots...

    Parfocal vs. varifocal

Everything CraigL said is spot on. I'd just add that the lenses that tend to be parfocal are broadcast zoom lenses, or Cine lenses. Both are expensive, they are also expensive to adapt to a GH2 with the adapter running upwards of $300. I was able to purchase a broadcast zoom with a huge zoom...

    BlackMagic Lenses

"VEGA-7-1" which is a 20mm lens. Do an ebay search on it. I'm told it should cover. There's a wider 12.5mm lens, however, I don't think it will cover Super 16. Also its in a very strange proprietary Russian mount- m32. Its a screw mount with a 32mm thread. If I get a solution worked out I'll let...

    BlackMagic announces new camera

I am so lucky! For graduation I was gifted a pre-order of the BMPC. I can't wait for it to get here, but I will say I'm worried about Blackmagic's ability to deliver their products on time.

    BlackMagic Lenses

Same, except I ordered a cheap Russian Cine lens that should cover super16. Since its cheap, it won't break the bank and if it doesn't cover, oh well.

    BlackMagic Lenses

I consider your advice completely valid. I wasn't attacking you, just presenting my suggestions in context. I'm sorry if my post seemed inflammatory, it was not my intention. As for the Rokinons, I think they're awesome lenses! And Panasonic has been putting out some great glass the last few...

    BlackMagic Lenses

A little more? Its more than 2x the price! I got my 14mm for $150. Ebay prices are generally between $160 and $170. And when I said its not manual focus, I wasn't using that as a plus, just mentioning that it wouldn't work with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Believe me, I know most serious...

    BlackMagic Lenses

The Panasonic 14mm is much smaller, lighter, and cheaper! It is a very sharp lens. Its not manual focus. I guess my question for you is, which Blackmagic camera are you using? If you're using the Black Magic Cinema Camera, you cannot use any autofocus lenses which immediately disqualifies the...

    BlackMagic Lenses

I have both lenses and have used both for video. The 19mm is an excellent performer on a budget and I highly recommend it. However, the 40-150mm is very slow and you'll find it hard to properly expose your images unless you light it. For this reason alone I don't recommend the 40-150 for video...

    Decisions, Decisions

So, I just pre-ordered a blackmagic pocket cam. I am in the process of buying more lenses for my GH2/BMPC combo. Right now I have around a $600 lens budget. Now, I was thinking of purchasing the Blackmagic 12mm but I also came across a Russian 10-100mm f2.5 constant zoom. It was built to cover...

The GH2, holy price jump batman!

In terms of how "cheap" it got- I got my GH2 for $470 brand new body only. This was around Christmas time.

    Mixing vintage and modern lenses

I personally really like the look of the SMC Takumars. As far as that Helios you have, thats great! I have an Industar. A lot of those old Russian lenses have a great feel to them. Also, a ton of people like old Nikon lenses. Canon FD is also popular. Its really personal preference. The only...

    Entry level DSLR + lens(es) for ~$1000

Why is the T3i a worthwhile investment and the GH2 not? m4/3 mount is gaining more and more support and already has excellent prime lenses. Not to mention you can adapt just about any other lens to it. Would like to hear your thoughts.
