    unscripted films

My very first film was completely unscripted and it turned out pretty well. Anything's possible.

Would 3D movies look better if they were shot deep focus?

I couldn't agree more! 3D is nothing but a gimmick. Look at 3D TV sales. Last year? Interesting. This year? What's 3D?

    Hello from Orlando, Fl.

Welcome Mike. (I'm directly west of you in Weeki Wachee). Look west. See water? There I am.

Your opinion: Best Steadicam-like stabilization system

My best point of reference is YouTube. I spent some time watching examples of each one and loved the Glidecam out of all of them. It's ordered, will be here tomorrow. I love being a Prime member with Amazon. For an extra three bucks, I can have anything overnighted). Thanks for the input!!

Your opinion: Best Steadicam-like stabilization system

<vader>NOOOOO</vader> Playing around with my Steadicam JR, one of the fore/aft control buttons sheared off and broke the frame. Dammit, now I have no choice but to get something new. I saw the Glidecam XR and HD series. What's the difference?

Your opinion: Best Steadicam-like stabilization system

I found one for $50 here: http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-SteadyVid-Stabilizer-Camcorders-Improved/dp/B008UUPUPM/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1368114259&sr=8-29&keywords=glidecam But never heard of this company. My camera with extra lenses, external mic and largest battery will be well under the 3.5lb...

    Adobe no longer selling software!

Bye bye Adobe I can't help but assume this is the nail in their coffin. How dense is this company, anyway? Sad.

Your opinion: Best Steadicam-like stabilization system

Personally, I have a Steadicam JR from about 10 years ago. But it's not well suited at all for today's cameras (like some of the new stuff I have). So I'm asking for your opinion: What's the best Steadicam-like camcorder stabilizing system you've used? I've seen dozens of slick ripoffs on...

    I'm back.

Zensteve, it's good to hear from you again!! :D I'm going to try to get back into it. For the last few years, I've been attempting to write this speculative fiction/scifi novel and it's not gotten anywhere. I'm about 300+ pages in (only a third of the story written) and it seems like it was...

    I'm back.

It's been a while since I've been active on IndieTalk, but I'm finally back. Yeah, I know, it's been about 7 years now since I'd shot my last film, but when you're diagnosed with cancer, go through years of chemo, multiple operations and treatments that keep you too weak to leave a chair, you...

    I'm still here

*enters stage left* Hi! Yes, I'm still here and kicking. I thought I'd write a note in the forums letting you know I'm still around. I've got a lot of messages in my inbox asking how I was recently so I thought it would be easier to write a public note. Well, chemo still continues (after one...

    Hate Actors

How did I get my friend to stop being camera shy and act in my films? OFFER PIZZA AND BEER. It works. Give it a shot. So you're out twenty pounds for food and liquor. No big deal as long as you get the shot, right?

Hell, I remember having to walking into town for an internet connection... 10 miles. In my bare feet. In winter. With 3 feet of snow on the ground. I once killed a grizzly bear with my bare hands and a large cast iron internet pipe ^^

sound should i use or create new music for film?

Semi-offtopic, but somewhat ONtopic, I just want to say that I always wanted to create a silent film. If I had three people to act for me and 48 hours, you'd see a truly historic short film that won't let you stop laughing. :D

    Entertainment vs. Artistic Expression

Ah, a good question I can rant, er... give my $0.02 about. Yeah, that's it. IMHO, film is only one of a million different types of artistic expression. It can be entertaining a number of different ways (funny, thrilling, engaging, romantic, intelligent, etc) but then again, it's up to the...

Zombies. Pittsburgh. Are you related to George Romero? :D Okay, I kid, I kid... I just can't get enough Pittsburgh zombie flicks though. :)
