Warning to all filmmakers regarding bogus international film festivals

This comes from a friend of mine who has been duped. I will give you the overview, a list of the festivals, link to a fuller article and a short film (http://swanseatelly.org/video/60/looking-for-an-audience-swanse) about the scam. This started in the UK but has gone international this year...

Lightworks NLE - free AND pro - maybe it is to hardcore for this forum;).

Its windows only currently, whey did you download it;). Not sure if anyone doing professional video editing would use PCC. Ben

Lightworks NLE - free AND pro - maybe it is to hardcore for this forum;).

The is now a quick start guide and a user guide in the download section of there website - and a few tutorials on YouTube. I managed to put a couple of clips on the timeline without too much trouble but it kind of reminds me of Blender. Blender is a extremely powerful and productive 3D...

Lightworks NLE - free AND pro - maybe it is to hardcore for this forum;).

There are some transitions and I believe the colour correction is quite good. Personally I only have once used anything more sophisticated than a dissolve. I believe it is good for basic grading but if you want to go high end book a grading facility. I don't think it is suited to flashy...

Lightworks NLE - free AND pro - maybe it is to hardcore for this forum;).

Only came across this a few days ago although it is kind of old news. Did a general search for Lightworks on Indytalk and very little was returned. This is kind of surprising, maybe people don't realise the significance. Lishtowks is being release free/open source. It is a top end/prod...

Anyone used MindMapping for developing Dcoumenterys

Hi, I am looking into Mind-Mapping and Mind-Mapping Software and is it useful for developing Documentary ideas. I am particularly interested if it a good way to find the story/hook. Has anyone tried this, was it successful? Also has anyone tried using any of the Mind-Mapping Software. The...

O no, not another Avid or FCP question, and the winner is Avid;).

OK, so I have been thinking about this and have come to a decision, but would like to run it past you to check I haven’t missed anything. I have decided to go with Avid (I have used both Avid and FCP a while ago and liked both). The reason for my decision is that with Avid I can work on projects...

Looking for Graphics Card with component (Y/R-Y/B-Y) out

I have decided to get a broadcast CRT (probably Sony PVM-14M4E) as my LCD is rubbish for grading and it seems it will cost me over £800 to get a decent LCD. My plan is to drop a new graphics card into my PC that has component (Y/R-Y/B-Y) out to run the monitor. Is this sensable? If it is what...

    cinematography DIY florescent flood

I was planing on fitting it coffin style with a reflector of some type. I know the socket is a standard item but I didn't think the bracket to mount onto a light stand would be. Thanks for your reply, I will have a look tomorrow.

    cinematography DIY florescent flood

I have one of these 105W florescent bulbs - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140351449894. I am looking to make a enclosure to mount on a light stand. I planing on making a box out of sheet metal. What I am looking for is a socket for the bulbs and a bracket to fix to the...

PD150 problem, image not sharp, maybe setup issue

I purchased a used PD150 a few months ago. It was in immaculate condition with low hours. Apparently it had only been used to conduct interviews inside. The problem is it seems to be producing slightly soft images (not really out of focus, just not very sharp). I recently did a 2 camera...

    Sony DV Computable Manufacturers/Cameras

I am looking to buy a backup DV camera. I have generally kept to Sony partly because I have a Sony deck and I have had problems playing tapes shot on kit from other manufacturers (especially Canon). Does anyone know what other manufacturers DV is computable with Sony DV? Regards, Ben

I have cut with Avid Xpress and FCP previously but it was a while ago-whats good now

FCP and Avid both felt good Not really much in it. Avid felt VERY solid and FCP had more effects (not that I use them much). What I was really wondering was if Vegas Video was worth looking at. I know I can download demo versions (of lots of different NLEs) but I really need weeks with them...

I have cut with Avid Xpress and FCP previously but it was a while ago-whats good now

I have used Avid (MCXpress/Xpress DV) and FCP but to cut documentaries (mainly < 10 minutes). That was a few years ago and I am going to get back into film making. My first instinct was to go to Avid Xpress DV (as I am PC based now) but I noticed Avid have discontinued it. It seems Avid...
