    > My Crowdfunding Experience

This conglomerate should be its own thread. Perhaps to compare and contrast styles and different things done to raise money!

    Feeling paranoid?

I do stand up. That crap happens all the time. Nothing I hate more than seeing someone else do my material.

We've got funds trickling in! Anyone else feel the way DeJager did about the perks? Any suggestions for ones that haven't already been claimed (we can change them if they haven't yet been claimed and I'm completely open to this.

    How long does casting take?

I've been a reader for several larger projects (theatrically released) and I'm an actor who goes through this process on a daily basis. If you're auditioning mostly chicago actors....take the audition to them out of respect. If there are one or two people where you live that you want to...

Ahh now we're talking DeJager....what perks would you like to see on there? This is where I completely feel like I was unsure of what to offer.

Gibbo, I plan to send everyone who donated a private password link when its complete so you can watch it and don't worry I'm going to make it regardless. The closer to the funding goal we get obviously the better we can make it, but I'm adamant that this will happen. Its my baby. ZenSteve...

hey guys thanks for the responses and feedback... more is always welcome. Glad you liked it crackerfunk! We've gotten a few donations so far...general consensus seems the same. Was thinking about breaking the video into 3 videos and having the main video be the dinosaur stuff then separate...

Ok guys...I'm going to attempt crowdfunding for a very funny stoner comedy called Pterodactyl Surprise. I think the amount is low enough not to be offensive. I've never done the crowdfunding before and decided to try it without doing any crazy research. Take a look at our campaign and let me...

    archived-videos My reels! Thoughts?

Already ahead of you ussinners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r1y4E_sTZU&list=UU2ZQayiXg-0lo_4P7zyf7tQ&index=4&feature=plcp The problem is when it comes to actors...our agents pitch us via the breakdowns. Casting directors prefer smaller clips broken up into comedy and drama. My personal...

    archived-videos My reels! Thoughts?

Thanks moon! Yeah, I had to cut the scene more than in half to have it fit in my reel so I couldn't really show the circumstances. I actually play a guy the lead meets on a dating site. I'm super skinny and look nothing like I do in my picture. Plays much differently that it did all chopped...

hahaha... I can't take credit for that. The best things that end up in the final cut were usually happy accidents.

    archived-videos My reels! Thoughts?

Thanks guys! I think my biggest concern was that I changed a scene in the comedic one excessively because out of context the long pauses didn't come out as funny as they do in the film. Thoughts? Here's the original scene...

Hey guys, I've updated my acting reels and I'm curious to get some feedback from you guys. Thoughts? Suggestions? These are my comedic and dramatic speed reels: Comedic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-uKTb5pCS0&list=UU2ZQayiXg-0lo_4P7zyf7tQ&index=2&feature=plcp Dramatic...

    Quick Help! AUDITIONING ACTORS.

Um...I'm guessing you never cast anything. First thing first. You need to hold auditions in a safe office/theater space. Never hold auditions in your living space. Its not safe for you and its not safe for actors. 2nd. I'd highly recommend hiring a casting director. If you're in a bigger...

archived-videos What can you do with $200 budget? I'll show you.

Hey guys. I'm pretty sure the funding for this all went into the gear. They had some pro sfx guys making all the gear for free (except materials). Unfortunately noone was paid. I'm guessing they plan to make a much bigger film. The dp/director is a guy I'm using for a pilot I've written...

A very good friend of mine wrote and directed this Halo (yes, the video game) fan film. I ended up with a special thanks in it. He's 24 and in my opinion very talented. check it out and lemme know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly9Gt8LDXLQ&feature=player_embedded

    Zombies!

I actually did a storyboard (with VO) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uqPAmVVr40&list=UU2ZQayiXg-0lo_4P7zyf7tQ&index=3&feature=plcp However, after doing this and playing it out I've done some rewrites, but I have not re-story boarded it or shot it yet. I lost my intended location for...

    Zombies!

It doesn't sound like you've written this yet, I'm guessing because this would change the action in the script dramatically. Also, you have to look at what you're able to get. If you can get 15+ zombies...then having a group will work, but if you're doing a short and you want basically extra's...

distribution Company Wants to See My film

Bleh. I acted in a film with a 100,000 budget that shot in 14 days. It was a great experience but I can't imagine having done that in in less time. It was 14 days of 15 hour days. Insane.
