    Toronto Deal on Rep Cinema

Hey Indietalk, Spat here. Been a while since I've been able to sit down and post because I've got a lot on the go, but thought this might be appreciated here... The Fox Theater (located in "the beaches") was built waaay back in 1914 or something and is very similar to the Bloor cinema, where we...

Interview On A Site With a NEGATIVE Review???

I'd say just approach it with honesty and humor. Lots of people have different tastes, but as long as you stay respectable in the interview and don't take yourself too seriously, I can't see real "harm"... just take your time choosing words and if you drop something that might be an...

Info/Analysis of downloading films frm torrents

I supposed the torrent sites themselves and the owners of the sites would have some sort of stats, but I don't know of a public source. It's most likely just an exaggeration in an attempt to build "hype" directed at the torrent audience. I think too many filmmakers are overlooking what piracy...

hahaha! Good show! That was pretty epic! Liked it alot... can't believe that was a 48 though. Good choreography and a witty story with a good punchline... nice... really liked that late 70's / early 80's look to it. Had an old-skool feel. Wicked. Well that made my Halloween!

    Happy Halloween

    1. Evil Dead 2. Event Horizon 3. The Thing 4. Ghost Adventures (also the show- 3 douchey guys go into places and try and lure out ghosts) 5. The Ninth Configuration (from the writer of the Exorcist, with Stacey Keach) That'd be an interesting little Halloween lineup! :)

    Confidentiality Question

Call "them" and ask if you really wanna know. The truth is out there. Just calling, you might pop into their minds and get another gig out of it, you never know. Now, if by "somewhat serious" you mean it was "just a formality", then I don't imagine they'd be after you if you just dropped the...

    Horror Film Techniques

See "Martyrs" and "S&Man" (pronounced 'sand man'). Two movies that utilize torture porn in smart interesting ways. S&Man in particular is a documentary-style look at the underground horror industry with a great twist to it. Martyrs has about 30 minutes of seemingly-senseless violence in the...

    *Raises Hand*

Nope. Comedy college drop out (seriously, Humber has a comedy course and it SUCKED) who couldn't afford film school so went the DIY route (which is more fun anyway and less homework). I've done a few industry gigs in various crew roles through the years and work with TIFF in theater ops...

I'm from Canada (Toronto), but I prefer banjo to harmonica, LOL. Well, you've got the right font for a screenwriter... LOL... just keep learning and plugging away- even AFTER you think you know what you're doing. Persistence is key.

What do I really to make a film?

    1. People (actors + crew) 2. Camera (doesn't matter what type, as long as it records images and preferably sound) and optionally a Tripod/Camera-man 3. Mic (and again, most camera mics are fine for starters) 4. Lights & Stands (2 or 3 will do. You can even just set all your scenes outside in the...

    Where to start...

My advice: Buy the gear, do a short. Features are HUGE. With a well planned short you could even make back the budget on broadcast if you play your cards right. Do shorts to network and build up a cast and crew, then bring 'em back for the feature!

I'll have NUN OF THIS!! Local film company steals other local company's plot...

Who cares? Let them make the movie! If they're silly enough to get inspired to make their nun film after hearing about yours and can't come up with an idea on their own, chances are the film won't be that good anyway. Just take it as flattery and move on. Why bring in lawyers? Your film is...
