Recording Holst's music myself for use in film?

That's exactly what I was worried about. I can't seem to find any samples of sheet music that are actually public domain (not to mention piss-poor image quality). Good point. :P I just don't want to get into trouble with anybody. I will contact some legal people and see what they can tell me...

Recording Holst's music myself for use in film?

Hey everyone, I have loved Gustav Holst's "The Planets" suite for ages, and it always sounds like it'd be a great soundtrack to a sci-fi film my brother and I have wanted to make for ages now. My question is, since I can find the music sheets online (and can read them fairly well), if I...

    Adobe Primere vs Final Cut

I personally love Final Cut Pro X, but if you're used to working with AE, Premiere is definitely the way to go. Both applications are just a means to an end, anyway - they both have a lot of the same features (Premiere has a few more than FCP X in terms of the cloud) and both do the job pretty...

    Moire, in a big-budget movie?

Nah, you should point them at the codec engineers, we should be able to have insanely great detail that only takes up a few megs of space! :P Haha, sadly that's not really possible (yet)...

    Moire, in a big-budget movie?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but when the film is scanned for post work, wouldn't it possibly occur then? Unless, of course, it was completely raw and uncompressed, which Hollywood could definitely afford to work with. :P

    Moire, in a big-budget movie?

@ChimpPhobiaFilms: Now I want a 5D MK III. :P See, I wondered that, too - downscaling poorly would definitely cause moire, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who realized that may be the cause in the video!

    Rendering security cameras footage?

:weird: No. There is no way to upconvert already terrible quality, super-low-resolution video to 1080p. You can scale it, but it will look like absolute crap - good luck even being able to recognize people and objects.

    Some audio questions...

Probably not me! In any of my serious productions (i.e., not a just-for-fun video for YouTube), I will more than likely look into hiring someone who is properly trained to do it, since my main interest is to be the cinematographer. That being said, I'm still learning as much as I can about audio...

    Some audio questions...

Yeah, I read about the importance of proper location scouting, and how it can adversely or positively affect the outcome of your audio. Luckily, the ideas for films I have don't really include many indoor scenes that would have reflective rooms - I've never liked bathroom scenes, they have...

    Some audio questions...

@AudioPostExpert: The way he worded it was something along the lines of "I'll show you how to record in mono and mix it to come out through more than one speaker" - so that's where that misconception came from! Thanks for clearing it up, that makes a lot more sense to me that dialog would come...

    Some audio questions...

OK, so dialog is recorded in mono. Good to know! What's a good microphone for both indoor/outdoor shooting? Those mics that Sage posted all look great but are pretty far up there in price - but if one of them is good for both situations I will take it! I think I'll be watching a lot of YouTube...

    Some audio questions...

I've been studying up on audio production the last couple of days, and I can't seem to find some answers to questions I have. I will probably look very dumb but I really don't care. :D 1 - There are two XLR inputs on my Tascam DR-100MKII, so does that mean in order to record stereo sound I need...

Was that before or after I updated the music? :)

watch What do you think of my logo?

So I couldn't change the easing-in too much without it throwing the whole animation off - I forogot I had done that by changing the camera's field-of view (which I originally did to make the particles shrink but look like they're expanding at the same time), so I opted for a fade in/fade out...

watch What do you think of my logo?

Ah, that is a solution previously un-thunk by me! I will try that and see where it goes. Perhaps combined with a nice fade it will work great!
